Short answer is: no.

Longer answer: you had to pledge at the Concierge level which amounted to purchasing $1,000 total in ships / loot / donations. My measly $450 didn't even put me half way to being in the running AND they recently (read: a few months ago) removed this perk as well. This would likely be considered a very "Chris Roberts" thing to do when there are ships selling for $5,000+

Anything you know about the video game industry is essentially thrown on its face when it comes to how RSI (Robert's Space Industry) conducts themselves. Being in all fairness the concept and detail level of the game itself is genuinely insane and madly creative: Star Citizen isn't Elite. It isn't <INSERT POPULAR FPS HERE.> It also ain't a video game as we know it: Squadron 42 combines at least three genres into a brand new type of game that (and this sounds silly) transcends budgets.

No publisher nor developer in the "real world" would attempt anything even close to what Star Citizen has become... That is a bandwagon I'll happily be sold the wheels for multiple times.

Apparently they removed the ability to purchase Squadron 42 for $70 from their pledge store a few months ago: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge My gut tells me the game will retail for $100+ after it releases.

There are roughly three camps when it comes to level of acceptance around the fact Star Citizen has taken 11+ years of development:

1. Cynicism. Every step announced is merely a bit of a dagger twist to the heart.
2. Lack of optimism while still being able to enjoy the game.
3. Complete fandom: you keep up to date with CitizenCon as an example.

You've people who fall into #1 who run 700+ member guilds: really all of these traits mix together into a situation best teased out by a therapist.

I'd genuinely like to talk about this game if you would entertain such a discussion.

I guess I am wondering what the Squadron 42 thing is specifically. I assume it's not the full game? Is it like "going to planets" or something?

If you would like to discuss the game with me, RR, I feel it would be a nice conversation.

S42 is basically the "First Person Shooter side-game" of this project. The main game is basically space exploration and space combat after you get out of the fancy space station.

I paid like 45$ to be able to play Star Citizen years ago due the request of my old boss who bought me a fancy ship or 2. I check it out maybe once per year to see how it has come along, but pretty sure old boss is still a big time guy in the SC community.
