The Ohtani thing is really funny. Goddamn, I love seeing rich people fuck up the easy shit in life. Don't gamble if you play sports DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
A guy on the Blue Jays that will, I hope, make the team is from Brighton, NY. Ernie Clement! I drafted him in my 24 person "Diamond Mind Baseball" league in the hopes that this year his stats are great and therefore he becomes my starting third baseman next year for text baseball.

Shawn's old baseball coach teaches phys ed in Brighton, and taught Ernie as a student. We all went to a game in Batavia when Ernie played with Mohawk Valley of the New York-Penn league. Shawn got to meet him and I got a pic (I would share it, but apparently its too big to upload here!!). I was hoping the Nats would sign Ernie so he could play with his hometown team.

Another fun fact... he also excelled at hockey in high school!

Is he a good guy??

When we met him while playing in Batavia, he was a super nice kid. Now, thats a kid playing his first year of ball in a stadium that should barely host American Legion games, so I dont think he could've had much of an ego at that time. But according to Shawn's old baseball coach, he's always been a good kid.

I guess Kevin Brown will get a few days off next week when he is asked to say this true but unfortunate fact on air.

The baseball world is better without Angelos.

Man, I hope when I croak people are sad. That doesn't seem like a tough bar.

The Blue Jays have a ugly green patch on their uniforms and are keeping them on this year for some company named "TD". It looks absolutely terrible. Ads on uniforms. Looks sharp Manfred, great job there.

Is it like a company logo? Like they paid the team X dollars to wear the patches?

Sounds like TD Ameritrade. Yay for more advertising on jerseys.
European hockey jerseys are the worst. They look like NASCAR drivers.

Ernie played in today's game and started a nice double play.
I am posting this here so I have it written somewhere:
December 23, 2022: Daulton Varso was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Toronto Blue Jays for Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Gabriel Moreno.
This was a horrible trade at the time, was made even worse when the Diamondbacks went to the World Series and is terrible now. Nothing against Varsho either, he is who he is. A gold glove caliber centerfielder playing left field for us, who has a league average left handed bat at best.
I get that LGJr was a free agent this off season, so I do not consider his start this year to be part of it. Still.

I like Lourdes Gurrel Jr because he hit a home run yesterday that paid off $81.88 for a $10 bet.

I also like that as I have him on my fantasy baseball team and if he keeps that pace up and gets 1800 RBI, I will win money.
Today, another Jays loss to the Devil Rays. On one play, Jays pitcher Genesis Cabrera badly fielded a bunt and threw the ball away. As the ball came back to third where a runner was tagged out, Cabrera was backing up the play. The runner never slid. His momentum took him into Cabrera and the two of them went face to face. Then Cabrera pushed him.
It really was a nothing play. But what I have observed is the act of pushing OUTRAGED half of the Jays fans online that posted about it. "H-h-h-h-h-hh-ow dare he P-P-PUSH someone because of WoRdS!!!!!" Caballero of the Rays never slid, was right in his face and initiated contact. This was not a big deal although benches did clear, haha. If someone did what Cabellero did at my work place, I'd push the fuckwad back too. But Jays fans are the snottiest and most self-righteous little shits in all of sports forums, each one of them scowling through life thinking they could never be hit in the face for saying something. When these self-entitled idiots observe the real world they act as if the guy in question, Cabrera in this case, starfished the entire crowd.
I really hate the Jays' online fanbase.

Let's be honest. That same fanbase are also Maple Leaf fans. So your entire story checks out 100%.

They don't seem much better as Leafs fans. I think that is how I came to the conclusion about Blue Jays fans.
(Just in case Bugs comes back: you we like as a Leaf fan.)
So I am reading posts as a Sabres fan and I am like, man, Leafs fans really are assholes. Then the light bulb went off above my head.

Also, Clement made two more great plays at third. I wish he was our full time third baseman going forward.
