Wrist check! What watch am I wearing today?

Greetings everyone,

I've accidentally found myself immersed in the world of watches: after purchasing a neat looking Russian Luch a few years ago, I've been slowly building a collection of unusual yet still capable watches. Why do I say unusual yet capable? My own philosophy is that watches should be interesting: my eyes will glaze over if you show me a standard stock Seiko or even Rolex (Tritium and Rainbow Rolex watches did pull my interest though...) models.

Patek Philippe? Hahahaha... Too pedestrian although the Aquanaut catches my eye.
Rolex GMT or especially Daytona? No. Never.
Tag Heuer Monaco? Too bulky and just feels kinda... Off.

The first of my watches is one version I own of the Russian Pulsar "knock off" the Elektronika-1:

You can find them through resalers for around $150 - $250 or if you troll Russian auction sites (which is no longer possible, sadly) you can get one for around $30ish without too much haggling. To get back on point, the aspects I enjoy about the watch are its sort of universal style: nearly none of the watches I own could be misconstrued as a knock off or "derivative brand" of a more expensive piece (except for the Luch. I have a rant about this topic concerning Russian watches as well that I'll likely write out here someday.)

On top of that the RED LEDs are so power hungry that they use 6 batteries and you've hold down a button to view the time. Along with an RED LED countdown feature, it is just a neat piece with alot of history behind it.

I used to have a Pulsar with those red numbers. Gad, I thought I was so James Bond cool and I was just a nerd with a Mr. Prosser digital watch.

I wish there was a cell phone shaped and decorated like a pocket watch. Id deal with a small screen just to have the fun of pulling out of my special inside pocket of my jeans.

Swatch are lovely watches: they're the most unique, mentally stimulating, and have a long pedigree of making all the other "just another submariner..." generic copy cats look silly (in my opinion.) What is your "flavor" of Swatch, sir?

PS Don't get me started on the Moonswatch...
PPS My voice, but not my picture!

In high school all the girls wore two or three of those Swatches at once. It was one of those 15 minute fads ( no pun intended) that went out of style like ice cubes on a beach in July. The one I remember most had a 3-D eye background.
