Hey, nobody's bought a home AC unit lately, have they? Somehow I still think "Sears" when I think home appliances, and after checking their site out they wanted $179 for their lowest model unit. And I don't know, the only thing that would be worse than buying an air conditioner would be buying one that was a bit of a pussy about it. Anyone get a great deal on one as of late?

Handy Air Conditioning Install Tips!

1) If your window opens from the side, rather than the top -- sorry!! You don't deserve frosty air!

2) If then attempting to install your A/C anyway, you should know that they ARE NOT KIDDING when they say it should be tilted so that the water produced trickles outside rather than in. Mostly because the water created is the foulest smelling substance engineering science has yet to devise! Oh, yes! My room smells like the morgue depicted in "Men In Black" and not because Linda Fiorentino has a stinky box or anything!

3) Ensure that all electrical devices are nowhere near your A/C if you're going to ignore #2. Like, say, your $200 scanner. Do you enjoy fretting as to whether or not an expensive piece of computer hardware will function after swimming around in the stench of condensed A/C aftercrap? Then by all means ignore this handy rule!

4) Prepare to worship your deity once again with passion once it *is* working. If you do not have a deity, it's worth getting one just to repeat the mantra "thank you God" as you tumble off into the first contended slumber you've had in, seriously, three months.

heh heh heh

Also, when moving, be sure to empty said A/C. I've dumped the afterbirth on many a floor ;)

I'm a bit worried. I'll have to move mine in a few weeks and I have no idea what I'll find. But rancid, yellow water?!? That's somewhat below average.

Worm, I think I owe you an apology. My previous post was written in jest, and not intended to deceive you or any of the other readers.

Once again, I'm just replying to keep the "King Poopy" nome de plume off the main board list. This base gets quite dead and could probably have gone five weeks much less the five days it did with it there, so I am forced into action.

So, wait, are you required to empty out your air conditioner every while or so? I've been running mine for a month or two now and not done so. Does it fill up with water or something?

I can't find my manual. I can't google.com an answer. I am helpless in this!!!
