Twisty Little Passages
Does anyone own this book? (Twisty Little Passages.) Apparently I am quoted in it from something I said in 1999.
Anyone got the line?

J. Yellowlees Douglas wrote:"Twisty Little Passages is, quite simply, one of the best books on hypermedia, period. This book not only made me reconsider the importance of interactive fiction as a genre within hypermedia, it also made me devote a hefty portion of my graduate courses to IF — and Twisty Little Passages. Hell, after reading it, I even went out and bought every Infocom title I could lay my hands on. It's that good."

I hated people like this in college. Usually the time to be this much of a pretentious dick is at 20. This guy missed it by a frew years, I think.
(This is someone who reviewed the book, not the author himself.)
...
I just realized what it's going to be like around here when Worm turns 20.

You can get like 30 Infocom titles by buying that one "Masterpieces" disc, so it's not quite as impressive as the dude there wants it to sound.
Also, I think I found the quote. If you put in "Zork" "Mario" and "King's Quest" into Google and then maybe my name or something it shows up.

On page 186 there is another referece, and I quote myself, "...evil player character made The Knight Orc, as one IF author wrote, 'one of the first games to give voice to a villain' (Sherwin 1999)..."

And Grindleguts really was a bad, bad guy. I'm glad that they were able to get one of my many quotes about the game into the book. They can call it the "Compleat Twisty Little Passages" now... of that I'm certain!
