... I'll get you for this, COMPASS ROSE

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Hey, Kent, is there a command to turn the compass on and off from my Hugo code? Reason I ask is that I was going to clear the screen for the last mouthful of text in my game and splatter it all on the screen without the normal nonsense I have going on up-top. However, when I did that I noticed that my compass stayed there.

Compass settings seem to be controlled by hewin.exe, but do I, as the programmer, have any way to send a kill or clear command for the thing?

A rose by any other name still stays on the screen

Yeah, hrm. The compass rose is really an interface-specific thing. I.e., it's a convenience provided by the engine that the program doesn't really know about--so currently, at least, there's no way to programmatically hide it.

Now you've got me thinking whether there should be.
