This game is the biggest waste of time ever, by which I don't mean that it's awful but by which I do mean it wastes a lot of time. Kills a lot of time. Savagely rapes and murders a lot of time, then savegely mauls an mutilates the corpse of a lot of time. It'll inevitably get me fired from work after I look up at the clock after my thirty-fourth attempt to beat the next board using only the arbitraily proscribed "challenge weapon" and realize that I've been playing for 72 hours nonstop and everyone thought something violent and horrible had happened to me.

In a lot of ways, this is the game Squaresoft's been trying to make pretty much since Final Fantasy I. Less a lot of Square's incredibly imaginitive CGI and plus an even lamer and more insipid story than even the megalith Squarenix could come up with, but also plus a lot more actual gameplay. It's also like a better version of Zelda64 (the last Zelda game I've played).

There are a lot of seemingly "freeform" elements like an invention system or a little Sim City style minigame that aren't truly freeform, but still pretty fun to mess around with. There's a customizable wooden mech you can invent and swap out parts for. Tooling around in a giant wooden clown on rollerskates armed with heatseeking missile pods made out of old crates is pretty cool. I guess it's fairly long in the tooth now, by modern console standards, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you feel like a lot of time has done you wrong and you're out to take grizzly revenge.

I want to play Dark Cloud II very badly.

I have nothing else to add, because I am hectically at work.
