Haircut tipping

Okay, I tip $5 for a haircut. I have no idea why. Am I stupid for doing this? How much do you guys tip for haircuts? I should mention I am going to the "Cost Cutters" across the street -- definitely not some gourmet hair place or anything.
Is two bucks more reasonable? No girl has EVER remembered me in all the time I have been doing this, so the whole "tip well and they will take care of you!!!" thing is seemingly horseshit.

Tip well, and often. They gotta eat too. Five bucks three or four times a year won't kill you or make you shop in the pet food aisle of safeway for dinner.

I'm probably growing my hair out to donate it again as it's the most altruistic thing that I can do with my hair.

Yeah, locks of love is awsome! I didn't pay for a haircut for like 8 years.

Please excuse discussions by those of us who still have hair.

I tip $2 -- but the haircut is only $12.95 to begin with. I guess it depends on how much you're paying.
