I'm currently disassembling the Hugo Book (the one in HTML format that Kent had given out before) so I could reformat the font styles & compile it into a CHM manual.

Nothing really fancy, of course. ;-) It's just so I don't have to open my PDF copy everytime I have to look up something. Once I'm done, I'll upload it somewhere & post the link here so you could take a look before I upload it to the Archive.

Would anybody object to this project?

Sounds cool to me, although I bought the printed version.

I would have bought the book also -- I prefer reading it off paper than from the screen -- but, circumstances being as they are, I can't buy it yet.

I'm still in the middle of converting the different sections into their separate pages. I'm almost halfway done.

I apologize for the delay; I tried to finish an entry for the One Room Game comp, but things got out of hand and...there it is. :wink:

For those who are still interested, I'm still working on the CHM conversion of the Hugo Book. I'm nearly done reformatting the first part, though I admit it's been a rather slow progress.

The second part, the technical manual, has not been started on at all. It's been divided into chapters apiece, but other than that, no reformatting work has been done whatsoever.

BTW, for those expecting something as professional-looking as David Welbourn's version of the Inform 6 manual, sorry. I don't know enough CSS (and/or HTML) to produce something like David's DM4. More than likely, though, I might ask for help on that area here, or on RAIF.

Congrats on your progress -- can't wait to take a look at the finished product. I am always scrambling for the PDF to try to look something up and the capabilities of CHM would really be beneficial.

To anyone still interested, the project's still alive. My pace is getting slowed down because of several reasons, but I'm hoping I'll be able to finish the raw product (without the fancy formatting) before the end of September.

Or at least before Kent releases Hugo 4.0 ;)

I'm still working on the CHM manual. The first part of the Hugo Book has already been separated into proper chapter pages, but the formatting is so basic - everything had been done by hand in MS Frontpage - I'd like to ask for anyone's help here with regards to CSS. My CSS knowledge isn't very good as it is.

It doesn't need to be too fancy - anything as navigable as, say, the built-in Inform 7 manual will be super.

Or I could just go back and merge the pages using something like the Natata eBook compiler.

The technical part of the manual has not been started on yet, but I still plan on working on it for the next few months.
