Selling my PSP

I am selling my PSP. Let me tell you about it.

It was an original wave PSP. It has a 1.5 BIOS. I have never put an actual PSP game or movie in it. I haven't been keeping up on the hacks, but I know you can run emulators with 1.5.

I currently have the NES emulator on it, an Atari 8-bit emulator, DGEN (for the Genesis) and an old version of a MAME emulator which doesn't play much, but does play Mr.Do!, BurgerTime and a few others.

OK, there is a problem with it. The "down" key is stuck. This makes it currently unplayable. I tried to unscrew the fucking cover on it and all the screws came out except one. MotherSHIT. I really don't want to deal with the goddamn thing.

I had to break the seal to get at some of the screws, so I am pretty sure I voided whatever warranty it had.

The thing comes with a cloth carrying ... thing, a 512MB flash chip, the power supply, the battery (of course) and a USB cable so you can get content onto it.

I would be thrilled to get $200 for it so I can buy a GP2X.

Write me an e-mail at beaver@zombieworld.com if you are interested. The down arrow thing CAN be fixed (there are webpages that show the fix) I just can't get the last screw out to fix it. I will probably give it another shot tonight, but I don't want to strip the screw.

You want $200 for a PSP with no warranty, a busted Down key (due to abuse?), and a $10-15 memory card? When you can buy a brand-new, warrantied one for... umm... $200?

Good luck with that. I'd be thrilled to get $200 if I were you, too.

First off, eat my ass.

Secondly, the guy in the next cube over said the new ones go for $350 and I didn't bother to look it up, so there ya go.

Yeah, the down key was busted due to abuse. I take it out into the back shed and beat the shit out of it. It's definitely not a known defect affecting a large portion of early PSPs.

And lastly, there is value in the fact that it's a 1.5 that you completely glossed over, due to the fact that you don't know anything about handheld gaming devices released in the last 20 years. How much value will be determined by.... eBay!

What will you ever do in the bathroom now?

Er, the GP2X.

Anyway, I doubt anyone on here is raging to buy my crappy PSP, but obviously $200 is much too high, unless you're an emulation freak who's GOTTA HAVE the 1.5 BIOS. But for all I know there was a later exploit that was just as good, if not better. So I'll just throw it on eBay.

I've completely lost track of all the crap you own.

But the Freecycle family that came to get the espresso machine loved your arcade games :)

I hope that statement does not also apply to any random non-mamalian house pets you happen to have.

I don't have a GP2X - I would put the PSP money towards it.

Sony makes the PSP. They don't want people running anything but stuff they say you can run on it. They are constantly upgrading software in the PSP to stop people from running an old Nintendo emulator on it and so forth.

The GP2X - and I know that's a terrible name - wants people to run crazy shit on it. The device itself wants that. Craves it. They said it was crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. Almost had me commited. But I -- ...

...

... Anyway, there you have it. My behavior isn't going to change, just the hardware.

What religion did they end up being from?

Yeah JESUS PIZZA!

I bet any kid that loves Jesus Pizza would love a 1.5 PSP for playing god like games on.

Non of that cold coffee shit either.

See that is why it is good they got your espresso machine. They can play GTA and eat Jesus Pizza without boobs.

God bless you!

I appreciate your take on this. I really need to get it fixed so I can be done with it.

God bless.

You could always go back to the thread where I sniped one for $230 rather than the cubicle next to you. Balls man, how about you ship it, I'll take out the screw, and then I'll ship it back?

I got $122 for it. I kept the flash memory for it.

The GP2X is much more in line with what I want. I even used "clrlmame" or whatever the fuck it's called, to get ROMs back to .34 (which the GP2X port of MAME uses).

One problem: you have to hit F2 on other versions of MAME to progress past the opening screens on some Williams games. Nobody gives a shit about Bubbles, but I don't see any way to actually start Robotron. This is troubling.

Oh, and the GP2X uses different kinds of flash memory than the PSP, so I have a 512MB chip that I will never, ever use in any sort of meaningful fashion. Great. GREAT.
