DLP vs. Plasma

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm thinking of upgrading and I've checked out the websites, but I really can't decide. I've noticed the size to price ratio is, for instance, not that far off. 50" Plasma is the same price as 57" DLP. So in essence, I guess what I'm asking is, does size really matter? Because sometimes, quality outweighs quantity (or inches, in this case).

Also, can you hang a DLP? or is Plasma the better way to go?

I love how people 'upgrade' their luxury items. I'll all here like 'give me a black and white in the kitchen, so I can watch the news while I am cooking like my Grandmother did' or, at least, 'give me a $20 cd player in every room'.

I'm looking at JQW here.

I might be changing this opinion when I discover if our jet-action tub actually works.

I am trying to (in a subtle way) remove television from the household due to its adverse effects.

Thanks everyone, for helping out the new user who came to you for some assistance, by levelling smart-ass, condescending comments in place of simple, useful answers.

I'm surprised this place isn't more popular.

Sorry, don't know about either of those features. What is DLP?

A correction, not a crash.

A cull, if you will.

So what do you see in Pinback if this is the case?

As I understand it, there are a number of negatives to DLPs. (You can hang them, but I think they are bulkier.)

DLPs make more noise, they are more prone to having weird color problems, replacement lamps are expensive and there is lag if you try to play games on them. I mean, you may want to give ole Galaga a turn on your nice new TV and nobody wants you to throw the controller at the screen, dislodge it, have it fall down and then make your shields all screwy.

Maybe that's why the DLPs offer more square inch-age. Not sure, completely, but going plasma would seem to be the better buy from what I've read on the subject.

Thanks Draal and Jonsey. I appreciate the help! As for all ya'll others. Don't be jealous that my TV is a tax write off. It just means I'm a bigger loser than most people that I sit in front of my boob tube for countless hours at a time watching an endless supply of mindless entertainment.

And on the quality vs quantity issue and Pinback, well, to be fair, he has both. So it really doesn't pertain to him. Just televisions. You Perv!

I can vouch for this.

I work and am friends with farmers, ecologists, hippies and hicks. I agree with alot of what they think about alot of things. If I can't post a rant about consumerism here, because someone's gonna be pissed off, THIS BBS HAS PASSED ME BUY.

But, if you're not willing to hijack and destroy shipments of head-on as part of a nationwide revolt, then, what's the point?

Who said I wasn't willing? The flesh is weak. Right now, it's weak on cheap chardonnay.

What's the problem with head-on besides the really fucking awful commercials? Does it not work at all?

Meaning what? I didn't buy a new house. And I sure as hell wouldn't upgrade it if the windows weren't large enough for me.

What, exactly, is head-on?

It doesn't fucking matter. It's the kind of classless subliminal mind fuck horseshit that reminds me that all fucking advertising should be destroyed.

The anti-consumerist stance is hopeless. Farmers and hicks always buy trucks and liquor. Hippies and ecologists always eat free range and buy hemp. You, well, I assume you've got a metric ton of leather belts with queer studs and shit in your closet. I've got a new video card.
