No. Granted, alot of Sabbath needed some improvement, but when they were good, THEY WERE VERY, VERY GOOD. As was Abba.
It's like industrial or techno remixes of things: take a good song, you're just going to fuck it up. Take a bad or mediocre song, and you could probably do something with that. I.e., the best remix I ever heard in my life. Sepultura's 'Chaos A.D.', or whatever it was called, compared to some no-name who got it somehow on the Mortal Combat soundtrack as 'Chaos B.C.' Tell me that dude didn't turn some crappy song into one of the best songs ever.

It alarms me, given the divergence of our musical tastes, that I agree with these sentences, except for the "no" part.
I've gone searching for bizarre-ass covers. I've already found Gabba (Abba covers in a Ramones style), a bluegrass cover of Ace of Spades, and, of course, Beatallica.

We Got The Meat
Do you remember that guy named Farsase who used to call the dial-up version of JC? Dave Refici, if I remember right. At any rate, I was introduced to the concept of kareoke through Farsase. If I remember right, he said that a buddy of his got up and did a rendition of that Go-Gos song by singing, "We got the meat" as the chorus. For years I thought kareoke involved the singer spontaneously inventing new lyrics.
