NAZGHUL and HEPHAESTUS....

Oki, here's what I found... if you like to program an Ultima like game, and can program in JAVA, go for Hephaestus RPG Maker... Or if you want to program a slightly easier on the fly RPG, get Nazghul... Both are very much freeware to use (save the Heph Interpreter, you have to do linking to it from a website... However dot comma, you can sell your Heph games)... And then you have also IRE Ultima Clone Engine, which is more of a C++ scripting language... That is all that Uncle Vulch can devulge...

I need to take a six-month sabattical from work and churn one of these things out. OK, saying this probably means that karma will get my entire division gutted on Monday, but still.

Additionally, I need to find some free graphic tiles or something. I think it would be less intimidating if I knew that there were some non-built in resources to pull from and possibly modify at a later date.
