Well, it's the new year
So begins two weeks of broken resolutions, outlandish party tales, and writing 2007 on all of our checks.
What are your new year's resolutions? I'm resolving to not procrastinate as much; yes, I know I have five days to do that chemistry writeup but I might as well get it done now because I sure as hell won't want to do it on the weekend. I'm also actually going to learn to use ModPlug Tracker so I can start making something of all the musical bits and bobs floating around in my brain.

Funny you should mention that! Here's what I resolve to do:
1) Get my work-in-progress into beta by the end of March: I got an enormous amount finished these last two weeks when I have not been working. I'm pleased with the progress. I need to get this thing into the hands of testers.
2) Complete my MAME cabinet: I am still wrestling with putting a real arcade monitor in there, or a monitor, as monitors go for free on craigslist. Regardless, finishing the control panel would be nice, as I now have a nice corded drill.
3) Make music this year: Dayna got me a nice stand for my keyboard, and it's right next to my PC. If I can get a cable for it, I could make music and record it through my computer. I'd like to do that again.
4) Play an after-work sport again: I tore a knee ligament two years ago and to be honest, I've been spooked when it came to playing softball, hockey and/or flag football again. I want to join a sport, maybe volleyball to start off. I don't want to lose the rest of my 30s because I am worried about another injury. If it happens, I'll rehab it again.
5) Don't go to work on the weekends: I knew as soon as I started to do it, it would become expected. I don't want to do it at all in 2008. I can login from home now, so if I really had to, I can work that way and at least physically be here.
6) Quit cursing so much on the roads: Well, sometimes it's good to put one in you know you will break.
7) Get healthier: If I don't take good care of myself, then nobody will, and I don't want that.
I think that is a decent list to start out with. 2008 will be the best year yet!

I'm keeping mine pretty low-key, since last year I made about a zillion and didn't keep any.
1) Get fluent in Czech. I want to get a job over there someday (and sooner rather than later), and the language skill would help a lot. (This is about the seventh straight year I've made this resolution.)
2) Write more. Probably easily accomplished, since I wrote very little in 2007.
3) Get to someplace cool that I haven't been before. Also probably easily accomplished, but I'm already feeling the stirrings of wanting to return to Prague. Early candidates are Asia, east Africa, or Ukraine.
4) Spend stupid amounts of money on a Tomas Kloucek hockey jersey. Probably easily accomplished.

Quit smoking this year. It probably won't be during the winter, because of seasonal pick-me-ups needed, but this year.
Re-acquaint myself with either Spanish or Portuguese lessons. I used to be fairly conversational in both, now I get them mixed up and can't remember half my vocabulary.
What I say every year: take day-hikes in RMNP which I bought the $26 dollar book for to show me where all the trailheads are.
Get better job, keep in touch with friends from old job.
Perfect my aloo saag recipe.
Start doing the yoga dvds I bought 3 years ago and have not opened.

9 days, baby. I even still go on "smoke" breaks with the guy who works next to me and go to lunch with him as he smokes both ways. It was torture at first but the sweet, sweet camel wides are already smelling like arse to me.
i did smoke a cigar the other day. "but I didn't inhale!"
