Jolt Country

The main page of Jolt Country shall be changing shortly.

Two new rules:

1) Aspire for greatness. I'm putting that pressure on myself. I shall come to expect it.... from everyone. More on this later. I see one blog and website after another soaking in popularity, when the average poster here is much funnier and more capable. At least, that was true for 95% of this BBS's life. It will be again!

2) No threadshitting. Again, I already run a forum where you can post whatever you want. If you threadshit, I'll delete it. Not having sigs and avatars help make this place readable, but that's worthless if the posts are horrible.

I think it would help if you could give two example posts:

Example one: lowest level of quality which will not be deleted.

Example two: "highest" level of quality which will be deleted.

So we know where the boundary lies.

Also, this place will have a better template, going forward. This Banzai Bug shit is not supposed to be funny or hilarious in 2008 - I changed the default phpBB graphic years ago, and trying to navigate phpBB's directory system is a losing proposition! (Please note: the Banzai Bug theme aspired for greatness in 2003.)

Pinback from Branch, CA asked about what kind of post is considered threadshitting, and which isn't. It's sort of like what they say about obsenity. Normally, you know it when you see it and when it is obscene, it usually makes Worm's dick hard. Unfortunately, we don't have access to a webcam pointed at Worm's crotch. So let's go with this:

1) If the post was written anonymously, in about four seconds, and it is attacking someone here, it's probably not written with an aspiration for greatness. In fact, it was probably written with the direct opposite in mind. Therefore it is SHIT.

2) Actually, we can amend it to, if the post is anonymous and attacking Pinback, it's probably unfunny SHIT.

3) The exception to all this would be an anonymous attack that is poorly written by someone's wall-eyed ex-lover from five years ago that makes the originator come off like either a child molestor or serial murderer. But surely that's a corner case that we'd never see here, ha ha! Wow, just wow.

Well I for one would like to come out full force and say that I don't hate the new JC BBS. In fact, I would even say that I am quite enjoying it.

Of course, it has only been up for 7 minutes, and we haven't yet had to deal with an incident where I post as FARTBAG POWNED fifty times in every base, but can't we just enjoy it right now, for what it is?

What about a non-anonymous post attacking Pinback, like when I made fun of his car (which, upon further rumination, I quite like)?

Just to follow up on that, *I* make fun of my car more than anyone else. However, I do NOT make fun of the fact that it so far gets 38 mpg and rocks like a mofo.

That won't be an issue, because Pinback will be aspiring for greatness. We're not fucking around here. I have it on good authority that one JC Member with the initials RY is putting together some kick-ass content shortly as well. This greatness thing is taking the FUCK off!

This new theme is not aspiring for greatness:

I have been really happy with how the BBS has been lately. I re-enabled guest posting in Orc's Head, the Hugo Base, and then the two bases at the bottom for my games and ACK.

I appreciate that everyone has been aspiring for true greatness here lately. Thanks once again!
