How do you know what post number it is?

I am trying to figure out how people here can determine what number posting they have made. I don't see a transaction number on posts being made and I don't see one when displayed or when saving. So how are you able to do this?

I am kind of curious. Is this a sysop special or is it something us ordinary peons can see?

If you hover over the quote button it will give you the post's ID.

All I get is a tooltip with "Reply with quote", it does not tell me the number.
