Christmas decoration

this year I am going to do it. I am going to make that eight foot Christmas AArdvark decoration that sits on my porch roof. I had saved back the sheet of plywood for a couple years. I pretty much worked out the design logistics in my head. I can even make the ears move back and forth if I steal one of those moving reindeer yard things from some poor sap.

It will sit on the peak of my porch roof and it will light up the whole front yard with it's message of joy and....joy.

Now I have to paint it so it will look good during the daytime as well.

Stay tuned.

My kids and I are talking about making big plywood cutout characters for the front lawn. I'm thinking Pac-Man and the four ghosts, maybe with Santa in his suit from the Pac-Man Christmas special or maybe Pac-In-Time.

No, no.... That only applies to text and video games.

I am about to prime the thing tonight. This weekend I will purchase the base colors and outdoor sealant. I really want it on the roof by next week.

You know, I'd really like to get some work done today before I drive home.

That's AWSOME! I demand photographs!
Speaking of fun Christmas props, I was at Weggy's two days ago and they had a Christmas frog. I was so tempted to buy it, but can't really afford it right now. It was just like one of those reindeer, with the lights, except of course frog shaped, and painted green with a red santa hat. It also had some large black beeds for it's eyes.
I was with my brother at the time and he saw me oogling over it, and as I explained to him, I am all about the funky Christmas decorations.
Also, should anyone in the Rochester NY area have the opportunity, every year on Kingsley Rd by Charlottle off of Lake ave, there is one house that surpasses the lights that the Griswalds had in National Lampoons Christmas.

That's scary knowing about the house on Kingsley Rd. We have driven through that guy's driveway more than once. It is actually better than the stuff they used to have in Northampton Park. And free.

Olly the Christmas AArdvark is up and running. Just got done hauling it up on the roof. Stupid rope lights will only work if I bend (and hold) one end in a particular manner. I will probably go back out there, risking life and limb with a roll of duct tape to fix it for now. I should have gone with the regular light strings as they are easier to work with. Maybe 2009 that will happen. I will post pictures here and on Groucho for all to ooh and ah about.
