For everyone who, like me, is a both a total dork and <3s System Shock, you--yes, you, that fat guy in the corner! can make a trioptimum.com email address with whatever the hell you want. Some google aps user bought the domain and set it up for gmail, so it all goes through that, but yeah. Here's how it works:

Send an E-mail to: ttlgrequest AT trioptimum DOT com. (cut up to avoid the evil spammers that paroos the board) Use a subject like "account request", and on a line by itself, include this syntax:

username,first name,last name,password (just like that, no spaces between commas)

The password you specify will be temporary and must be between six and sixteen characters in length. You'll be forced to change it the first time you login.

Once you get your account created (I'll say when, out of convenience) go to http://mail.trioptimum.com to login. It has calendar, too!

And if you want to set it up in your email client like I did you can, just enable imap on the web interface and configure it in your client with imap.gmail.com port 993 and smtp.gmail.com port 587 with SSL/TLS on for both and username@trioptimum.com for the address obviously.

Dan Schmidt has a story about that, though. I can't remember if he worked on System Shock. I think he did. He DID work on Ultima Underworld, and:
