Hugo on iDOS

Someone ported DOSBox over to the iPad/iPhone and called it iDOS. It was on iTunes for about an hour before Apple yanked it, but you can still get it via Cydia.

I just copied over the DOS version of Hugo and am playing A Crimson Spring on my iPad right now.

WELL WELL WELL, isn't this the most amazing thing ever? I love it. Well, I guess I gotta get an iPad now. (Nobody say anything, but I'm getting my girlfriend one for Christmas.)

Although! In your blog post, you refer to ACS as "A Crimson Story." I only mention it because I didn't understand why the Google Alert I have for "A Crimson Spring" didn't go off.

Anyway, I am going to direct the Planet IF people to your blog right now. Let me know if you want me to tell the guy who runs Planet IF to add robohara.com to it when you specify an "Interactive Fiction" tag to your blog posts or something.

Also - that looks like the competition version of ACS. A bugfixed version is here: http://www.joltcountry.com/downloads/scourge.zip

... and a text-only version here: http://www.ifarchive.org/if-archive/gam ... urgdos.hex

Annnnd now that I've had two seconds to read and digest the entire article, I see that 1) Apple removed it from the store. Hah, what a bunch of shitbags. Whatever. You're not going to win, Jobs. And 2) It will work on my jailbreak-iPhone, eh?

Taking a look!

Yeah, I added "Interactive Fiction" as a tag because I thought it would get picked up by IF Dwarf, but I guess not. :/

Also I am retarded and messed up the name of your game in my post. It's fixed now. I think my head combined it with A Christmas Story.

That's fair. It's essentially a retelling of A Christmas Story with the exception of the dead corpse of the heroine getting raped and shat in.

Yes. Here is their website:

http://www.dospad.net

More directly, here is a link to instructions to install the program on any jailbroken phone using Cydia:

http://www.dospad.net/forum/viewtopic.p ... 8a7e6c4717

The latest beta (1.92) supports loading games in .zip format from URLs, so you don't need to copy them over if you don't want to. I copy them over manually (to /var/mobile/documents).

I couldn't login and post to tell those guys to get their shit together. The site is down or something. I see it in Cydia, but I can't get the actual program.

Let me know if/when that goes through. I have a couple of IF-related blog posts on standby, but I will hold them until they get me added (makes sense).

My RSS feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/robohara

I will be sure to tag them with "Interactive Fiction"

Just for that, you get one of my really bad jokes.

Guy goes into a whorehouse but he only has $5. So the madam tells him they've got a woman for him, but all he gets to do is bang her. So he says okay, and goes into the room where she's lying on the bed, naked. So he gets on top of her, sticks it in and starts pounding away on her. Then he comes, and immediately this horrible green ooze comes pouring out of everywhere: her ears, her nose, her mouth! Guy runs screaming out of the room and tells the madam at the desk. She picks up a walkie-talkie, and says into it, "Hey Ralph! The dead one's full again!"

I'll check with radix to see why. I believe in you, Flack!

I found out why. It's because I use Feedburner, and the category feed reroutes to the main feed. Feedburner is outdated, but I started using it years and years ago (before Google bought it) back before Wordpress had truly RSS-compliant feeds.

Long story short, I got a new category feed set up and resent it to Radix. Hopefully it'll be added shortly.
