Jolt Country

I hate to say it, but this disc is pretty goddamn good.

Wow.

OK, the "NYC" song sucks, and there is one towards the end that I don't care for. "Obstacle 1" rocks my nutXX0rs off. though. I imagine they would have called this "progressive" back in the 70s. Besides the various forms of pop, my favorite kind of music would be progressive, but all the prog bands had their best stuff before I was born, or when I was 3 or 4 or something. This is quite a new experience for me.

Actually, maybe it's like how Eric Mayer was able to enjoy the bands that the HeBGB Horror was about when they alive and new and important. Well, not too much like it, since this is just one disc.... but still.

I first heard this CD before the Mr. Show live show in Madison, WI (home of Emily from SA, if rumors are true). I really liked it, so it was lucky that one of the other guys in the audience worked at the local indie music store so I could ask who it was.

When I bought it and listened to it again, I noticed that it does sort of make me kind of uneasy and edgy (despite my enjoyment of it musically), so I sort of lump it in with the other songs I've come across that test my delicate sensibilities, where your only two options are to repel away from it or to embrace it all the more just for that reason.

Maybe that's just personal in a way that it's completely meaningless to anyone else, but oh well, there you have it.

What the hell is with all you guys all of a sudden? Have you all got the hots for Emily?

I mean, sure, she's good-looking, and has a truly radical and, may I even say bodascious sense of humor, but good God, get out more!

If you have to reach for someone intangible and unapproachable go for Lara Croft, or her fictional counterpart, Angelina Jolie. Anything.

This girl posts once a week, and she exists. There is no exitement there.

Go for Kilcreek instead.

Actually, since I've never been to somethingawful.com except to read JeffK, I had no idea she existed until I heard that she and lowtax (who I had heard of) broke up. It's just that, living in Wisconsin, I think it's sort of neat that I could conceivably meet someone who has such a huge internet following and never know it.
