When SC2 came out, I was so excited to have finally found the "perfect computer game"(*) that I just couldn't wait to share it with my bestest gamin' buddy, ICJ, so I "gifted" him a copy(**).

He gladly accepted! And we got on there, and had a few laughs. But let's face it, ICJ is not an RTS kinda guy. I think he accepted the gift in the spirit it was intended, which I thank him for, but the truth is, he'd rather read TDR's 750 page book than spend even another second on one of SC2's several EULA pages, let alone with the actual game itself.

ENTER GERRIT. He's a man who appreciates a good RTS! And he's better at them than any of us ever will be. But he got no SC2!

Surely there's some way we can make ICJ's SC2 find its way into Gerrit's deserving hands in a way where everyone feels good about themselves and feels that they have "come out the better" for the transaction! Surely!?!

So this is the thread where we figure out how to make this happen. Sure, there will be obstacles. Dark, nay, "black" obstacles, for one! But we can make this work. Can't we make this work?

(**) Fucking Blizzard doesn't allow gifting from their online store, so this was a "manual" gifting, where I just bought the fucking game from Amazon and shipped it to him. CONGRATS, Blizzard, you "gifted" Amazon another customer.

I don't understand how this is going to work. Let's say I send SC2 to Gerrit. Great, he loads the game and goes to type the serial number in.

"ha ha ha u suk" says the game, "this key is registered to ..."

Actually, I think those assholes didn't give me enough letters to use "Ice Cream Jonsey" as my login name. I think my account name is "Yehoweh Porn."

Is it possible for Gerrit to download SC2 and then just login using my name and password? Is it tied to my e-mail address? See, shit like this is why the process of not just letting fucking people play a fucking video game is a broken, anti-consumer machination.

Why doesn't garrett just download the fucking cracked torrent and then pinback shuts the hell up about it?

You give him your key, username and password. You are allowed one free name change, so he'll go on and change his name to what he wants, and everyone's happy.

Wait, how does he get the game itself, then?

I am willing to do those three things, unless Blizz won't let me change my password, in which case it's an enormous pain in the ass for me to change all my other passwords.

Gerrit, I apologize for Ben's behavior on all this, getting information out of him is like trying to pry a tip out of a hipster.

1. You change your password.

2. He logs in as you.

3. He downloads the game.

4. He changes his screenname to something he likes.

5. He selects "reset everything" on the account (I think this exists)

6. TDR writes a 1660 page book about it.

7. Done.

Also, this is a good time to do this, because they just started "Season 2" today, which means everyone's rankings and stats got reset to zero.
