Shall We Play a Game?

Post by Tdarcos »

I've been thinking about this for some time, since Ben and I were doing chess-by-mail over the Internet, oh, about 15 years or more ago, so it's chess-by-email.

Okay, Ben (or someone else here if you also want to), care to play a game? I haven't played in at least 15 years since whenever we did, and other than that it probably goes back at least 25, so I'm probably rusty, but we'll see.

We can either play here, by e-mail or on an FICS chess server. If you're interested to do so (a) select white for play here and state your opening move; (b) state you select black for play here; (c) say you prefer to play by e-mail or chess server (which and what color); (d) decline my invitation.

I forgot to mention I read the article for Chess on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess

The article is so large no one's attempted it since I did it in 2006.

He will need to purchase the game, of which the chances are zero, or have Robb lend him his account and have him agree to play me, and also be able to figure out how, which the chances are higher than zero, but not too much. I'll start a thread on it in the APPROPRIATE BASE.

Correct. I don't have any money or credit, literally.

As I mention in another thread here, I'm waiting for Merrick Bank to get the check for $367.00 I sent them twelve days ago to pay off what I purchased last month, until they do credit my account my credit card is maxed out.

My net liquid assets at the moment are $2 and the only reason I have that is someone saw my advertisement on the Internet and had me notarize a document this evening. (I provide night and weekend service where other notaries won't bother, so if someone needs an affidavit at 7PM or on a Sunday they can get it.)

At least fortunately I've got plenty of food and soda.

Why would I want to bother? The point here really is to see who's better. I can't judge my own performance or yours if I use some program to make my moves.

And you or someone else can - at the end of the game - give a critique of moves.

I just spent about two hours updating my reading of the article in Wikipedia on Chess, it's now an hour long, the previous article took 32 minutes.

Moves:

1. d4 (I was going to use e4 as you were but I decided to be different)
