New Years Resolution: 3 Games A Day!

Day[9] pointed out to his viewers that many of us got so enthralled with watching replays and dailies and tournaments and streams that a lot of us stopped actually playing the game.

GUILTY!

He also suggested that for the new year, everyone play three games a day.

And since I do whatever Day[9] tells me to do, I'm doin' it!

(PS: God, I'm awful anymore. I have "gg" on a keyboard macro, because of how much time it saves me on a daily basis.)

I'd rather watch than play it. I hate it when I spend all that time and energy building up a military / industrial complex only to have some random 14 year old wipe my shit off the planet in less than a minute.

Everyone would rather watch it than play.

This is a character-building exercise.

And my macro transition has improved considerably since we last played (how many months ago...) Butr has also improved, though he is still a considerably weak player when he is forced to micro his units. Arguably, my game in general has improved considerably.

When I say "play", I refer only to laddering 1v1s. Not customs, team games or cheesefests with your buddies.

So tell me: Would you rather watch or ladder 1v1s?

Mine has gotten much worse since I switched to random. Well, since I switched to random, and started playing about once a week.

Hopefully the NEW YEARS RESOLUTION will help matters. Or perhaps not.

Ladder.

Care to team up for 2on2 ladder matches?

Sure. But again, just so we're clear, I don't count that as "playing SC2". In order to stick to my resolution, we'd have to play those matches, and then I'd say "sorry, I have to go fulfill the responsibilities I set forth for myself for 2012" and then go play 3 1v1s.

Just to be clear, the Hugo Comp just took an enormous growler in the mouth of this base! Ha ha ha! Guess what isn't halluc, bitches?

HAHHAhahHAHA

I failed to play three games today, PURELY because of the Hugo Comp and my involvement with/validation of it.

Today, I think we can all say together, without a hint of irony:

Hugo OP.

Also I object strenuously to ICJ's insinuation that there is a competition between this base and the other base, and by extension between SC2 and Hugo.

For instance, I DECLARE that my next Hugo project will be SC2 fanfic, and ICJ has already declared that his next game will be LOUSY with SC references.

We're working together here.

(I reserve the right to not actually make my next Hugo project SC2 fanfic.)

That's true. I have enjoyed Day[9] and the work you are doing with RetroRomper so much that even though I no longer have the game installed (due to a HD crash) I am still a fan of SC2.

I would put it in my top 30 games.

Well, I snuck in three games before midnight anyway, so FUCK YOU HUGO.

Top 30 games. Yeah. That's reasonable.

That pisses me off so much I'm going now to look at your top 30.

Ouch. That thing is so rife with crazy broads and dead homicidal maniacs that it's hard to read anymore.

You can't have it less than Warcraft II, though. You can't. I know things are easier to see in WC2.

It's just wrong, though, dude. SC2 is revolutionizing competitive gaming and broadcasting, to the point where it's making Gary Bettman nervous (joking!)

(Not joking.)

But yeah, I want Hugo and SC2 to be friends. These are two worlds that are gonna be brought together, HERE, on this DARK GRAY WEBSITE.

They're not so different, you know.

I guess they are very different :(

Not true, I don't really find the game interesting as a spectator sport, I prefer to play the game. The only time I find watching the game more interesting is when I'm watching someone in order to figure out how to play the game.

I mean, some people immediately presume something based on what they think. I saw an episode of Law and Order once where the guy said that everyone has an opinion on abortion. I don't. I am more-or-less neutral. I have specific reasons why I think some abortions are inadvisable, and why I can understand both points, and to some extent what I think is the best solution, but I don't really have a strong opinion on abortion.

And I think people who claim "everyone" has a certain opinion on a particular issue sometimes make the mistake of pushing everyone together according to their opinion.

Many people would rather watch 1v1s than play 1v1s.

I stand by that statement. The reports of "I used to play a lot but now I just watch Day9 and tournaments" are too wide and varied and also coming from me.

That being said, since my resolution to play 3 a day, I have played 3 a day.

EXHAUSTING.

God, it's fucking exhausting.

I think it's much worse now that I switched to random, because 1) I'm still not very comfortable with two out of the three races, 2) now instead of remembering one set of things to do, you gotta remember all of them, and which ones do good against which, and bleahhhh...

So exhausting.

God.
