I traded Kevin Millwood (Phillies pitcher) to Christopher Tate for Todd Helton after the draft. We did an off-line draft where we specified what order we wanted to grab guys with, and as it turns out my first 10 picks were pitchers. That didn't exactly go as I had either planned or intended, but by mostly ranking them by the number of points they put up last year I guess I didn't have to worry about not getting value per pick.

But yeah, my lineup is in complete disarray. Mike Sousa informed me that Trot Nixon is probably going to get platooned. You know the guy who roots for Ken Griffey Junior these days? That guy who DOESN'T EXIST outside of fantasy baseball? Well his name is Jonsey this year. What base will he tear himself up running around this year? Here's hoping he avoids rundowns, I guess.

I've got way too many Jays without grabbing the one that I could have really used (Orlando Hudson, 2B). Also, Tony Womack shouldn't be anywhere near anybody's team.

Based on last year's stats (in other words, if everyone scored exactly the same number of points this year as they did last) I'd come out on top, but that's before the innings limit kicks in. If I get 200 innings out of each pitcher, I really only need to carry 7. Pedro will probably break down at some point, but still -- I need to trade one of them for an outfielder.

I also need to hope that Craig Wilson beats out Randall Simon before too long for the Pirates. I truly believe he's the better player, but I also like the fact that he got hit 21 times last year in 368 at bats. I don't really know a whole lot about the guy, but getting hit once every 17.5 at bats is something that ought to happen to a complete cocky prick like Bret Boone, not a -- as far as I can determine -- unassuming d00d like Craig A. Wilson. To put it another way, out of all of us here, Ben would be the guy getting hit 21 times in platoon work. It would take the rest of us an entire season and some seriously bad luck to come anywhere near that.

At any rate, I'll need to pay strict attention to any outfielders that manage to come out of nowhere this season. I got clobbered in this thing last year, so if I can just stay dangerous throughout the year, it will be an improvement. The guys I am in the league with are as knowledgeable and passionate about baseball as I like to think I am regarding football, or as Ben is regarding golf and NASCAR.

(I was going to go with "golf and treating people like human cuntpunches on the Internet" but that probably would have come off as unfair to Pinback -- yes, no?)
