If you had written 34.44 then it would be reasonable to expect it to mean seconds. EVERYONE ELSE, EVERYWHERE USES AA:BB to mean AA minutes, BB seconds. NOBODY, ANYWHERE, uses AA:BB to mean AA seconds, BB hundredths of a second, that's what AA.BB is for.

Again, Commander Tdarcos is 100% correct. I have upgraded him to... Jolt Country Poster of the WEEK.

My other 2013 improvement is that I am going to spend the year being as good a friend to Commander Tdarcos as I possibly can. Don't get me wrong, I still don't want to see an 11-line post from him, but I shall otherwise support him when he is correct, in the right and in the know.
