Jesus fucking Christ I was getting dizzy and almost nauseous just watching the video! I can't imagine how you can actually Let's Play it that long.
This game is so hard I think it just barely misses being the equivalent of I Want to Be the Guy.

What did you think of d3dgear? Is it significantly better than, say, Camtasia? I've noticed some lag/jumping even when recording C64 videos using Camtasia 10.

I've never used Camtasia. This is the first thing I downloaded because I saw a list of "how to make Let's Play videos" software, and it was the first one on the list, AND the only why whose description didn't include the phrases "but" or "although" or "probably have lots of problems getting it to work" or "doesn't actually record video games".
So, so far I give it five stars, because I just installed it, ran it, and it worked. A+++

How you managed to reach 53 seconds with the arrow keys is beyond me... Wonder how well one of us would do with a spinner or a trackball?

I asked the guy who made the game that very question! Here is what he said:
[...] My feeling is that spinner controls wouldn't actually work as well as you might first think, as the game really relies on having precise digital input (especially at the higher levels). I looked into it early in development but didn't really like the way it felt.
Ben made the same kind of point right after I got him the game. After comprehending what my Internet comedy partner and the maker of the game was saying, I can appreciate their take, but a part of me just wants to play more games on a spinner, you know?
But someone should do that every time a good game comes out: ask the creator to support spinners. Gemini Rue 2? SPINNER. Portal 3? SPINNER. Tempest 4000? Well, I don't want to get carried a-- SPINNER.

Also, the main thing is, is that the guy making the best arcade -style games in the world is aware of the spinner. That's all we can ask for.

As Jonsey (and Mr. Cavanaugh) just expressed... worse.
Much, much worse.

Can we all agree that it would be nice to have another spinner game? No? All righty then.
I do with the arcade spinners out there came in a box or something with a few buttons. I know that it would cut down on sales even more if they had a "boxed" version and an unboxed version, but still.
