Just stumbled upon the main propaganda page for a multimedia work of I.F. set in a gritty urban dystopian cyberpunk world reminiscient of Bladerunner. The page is so full of self-aggrandizing you would think it was written by John Romero during his Daikatana phase. :D

But I haven't actually tried it yet so maybe it lives up to the hype. Anyone here know of it or played it? Any good?

From what I have heard it's not very good. The parser is awful and the writing was filled with mistakes. Rather than show a modicum of humility, the guy that made it comes off like he thinks he wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

It seems it was written by people who didn't know anything about the genre. IMO, if you're going to write a text adventure, at least spend a few hours researching first. Otherwise you'll look like an idiot afterwards.

Hahahahaa oh man..

Okay, on topic.. I've played it. As mentioned, the parser is horrible. It does have a really cool atmosphere to it as far as sights and sounds.

As far as the actual story goes.. I think I enjoyed sitting around thinking about elements of it in a "Woah, the future could be scary shit" or "Yeah, I could see how devices to pull shit out of memories or dreams could work" more than actually experiencing them in the game, if that makes any sense.

Haven't beat it.. got frustrated with the shitty parser.

P.S. I've never been able to sit through Blade Runner without losing interest or consciousness, so I don't really have any opinion of if this game ripped off mainstream scifi stories.

The novella "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" is actually a very good gateway drug into cyberpunk. When I first read it (which was not that long ago, say 5 years or less) it's a fairly easy to visualize alternate version of the future. Blade Runner is quite jarring visually (at least in 1982 it was) and because of those visuals you are constantly being reminded that THIS IS THE FUTURE and OH THERE ARE FLYING CARS, etc. In the book, at least in my mind, things kind of looked like they do now. Every scene of the movie is designed to remind you that the future has poor lighting. The book is not that way.
