When you find out your ex is dating someone half his age

I mean, don't get me wrong... I do want him to be happy. But he's dating someone who isn't a legal age to drink. He's almost 40. She seems very nice, and my kids haven't come home with her drawings on them since I let him know that kind of thing really isn't appropriate... but... really?
I know he probably had to find someone who wouldn't be mature enough to fall for his bullshit... after all men who like to hire hookers and get left by the mother of their children for getting busted doing so via audio recording do need to find someone reasonably gullible don't they? Sucks to be her. *shaking head*
I hope for his sake he's grown enough of a soul to do better. Oy.

To be fair, finding an open minded 18 or 20 year old can lead to great sex and if they are at least mildly intelligent and passionate, good conversation. However the few times I've dated below my age bracket, I usually called it off when they sent me an IM telling me they cut themselves because they were left out of their guild Raid or something.

Back on September 9, I wrote to a friend:

"Actually, I just looked it up to do this letter. In West Virginia, it is illegal to marry your first or second cousin, but it's not illegal to have sex with them. West Virginia law is very clear, it's illegal to marry a first or second cousin by blood or marriage, but it's not illegal to fuck them! It specifically mentions first cousin and double cousin as illegal to marry. It specifically does not mention cousins at all for incest.

I didn't get to mentioning it in the letter, but the rules of statutory construction presume (1) the legislature knows what it wrote in its laws; and (2) that the omission of something included elsewhere is intentional.

I don't have to drive anymore, so I compare it to "This train is being held due to a stalled train" announcements. I don't know how long it's going to last, but I stuck here and there's nothing that can be done about it.

Hopefully the sex is at least good for the both of them? I... Well, I'm more likely to have empathy for your ex as I have always feared about mentally being in a place where I didn't have a moral code and am being incapable of note my own actions.

I go to get the girls from The exes after they have Thanksgiving dinner.... There's this big birthday candle that you're supposed to burn down for each year sitting there. I comment that it's been forgotten for a couple years since the numbers are off. This is the sort of thing people need to be careful about. In 30 states, the District of Columbia and every Canadian Province the age of consent is 16. In 12 states the age of consent is 17. In only 3 of the states where the age of consent is 18 is it still absolutely prohibited to have sex with someone under 18, but even then they still reduce it to a misdemeanor instead of a felony if you're no more than 3 or 4 years older.

Given this anyway, even where it's legal to have sex with someone who is 16 or 17, having video of it or pictures of them naked is the felony crime of possession of child pornography! In one case an appeals court upheld the conviction of a couple of kids who took pictures of themselves having sex and mailing them to each other. It was perfectly legal for them to have sex; it was a felony crime for them to have video reminders of it.

So if two 15 year olds have sex, they get arrested? Half the country must be in prison by now.
