The Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Thread
This is a placeholder thread for what will surely be the best game of 2016, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Adam Jensen is BACK as the main character in Deus Ex, or at least I have been made to believe that. If that's not the case there will be a riot.
I will now answer your questions on why this shall be the best game of 2016.

Man, I do not get all the dislike of Human Revolution. You guys will play all 4 Mass Effect games all the way through, but when confronted with the best character in all of video gaming, you hate.lethargic wrote:Did all other games get cancelled?
Why so much hate for Adam Jensen?

From what I know about the day zero stability, this does not necessarily imply that the thrusters are on.RealNC wrote:Sorry, what did you say? I can't hear you over the sound of my ship's thrusters in No Man's Sky.
Oh, that is another big plus when it comes to Deus Ex, when people load it, it will probably run.

"It runs fine" for a certain percentage of users with good hardware and technical savvy. I mean, that's great for you that you're in that group, but don't pretend there aren't major issues with this steaming pile of $60 indie hype.RealNC wrote:It runs fine. Unless you have an very old PC or don't know what a "visual c++ redistributable package" is.
PC users these days are so clueless, it hurts my head.

Well, here's the major problems of the game:
1. It freezes every half a minute for 2 seconds. They call it "hitching." After 20 minutes, they quit the game and start posting on the internet "this game is shit."
What's going on here is that the game creates OpenGL compute shaders the first time it needs them. When it does that, the game freezes for a second or two. After about an hour or so of play time, the shader cache is complete. No more hitching. So, a non-issue in the long run.
2. The game crashes with a "MSVCR100.dll missing" error dialog.
What a fucking show stopper.
3. The game crashes on startup with a "NMS.exe has stopped working" error message on systems with a CPU that lack the SSE 4.1 instruction set.
Get with the times. What's next? Complaining that it doesn't run on the Commodore 64?
4. The game crashes with some "failed to create render window" error or something like that.
The game requires OpenGL 4.5. Update your graphics drivers, and if that didn't fix it, get a GPU made this decade.

Oh, another thing with this game is that there's a SHITLOAD of ad revenue to be made with clickbait. Articles about "the NMS hype" and youtube videos about how shit this game is, is making the creators of that content lots of money. These get tons of views by people who are interested in the game.
So guess what the result is? Everybody and their grandmother are reporting on how shit the game is. Big surprise there.

No Man's Sky will have the same trajectory as Destiny. At launch people bashed it because it wasn't the game they had created in their mind and it was deemed a failure. As the whiners fade away and everybody else spends more time with it, it's greatness will win out in the end. It will be a game that people will play for years. It will be a game that evolves over time into something even better. It will be a rousing success. Book it.

In all seriousness, they released it too soon. Like lethargic says, in six months it will probably be viewed by people buying it (at a lower price!) as a good game.
It was just so overhyped, and by that I mean that game journos went crazy promoting it. That usually means they were buddies with the devs because game journos have no integrity whatsoever, usually.
