There will be a Lethal Weapon TV show

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Lethal Weapon 2 is one of the greatest movies of all-time, nobody denies this. Since I'm watching the football games today, I just saw that they are making a TV show out of it.

Will it be an abomination? Will it be BETTER than the original material? I dunno, but I guess I gotta watch this and find out.

Won't you all join me?

I'm a helpless absorber of the ads right now, Billy, and Martin Riggs does not look the slightest bit suicidal in what I have seen so far.

I know he became happier as the movies went on, but at the beginning that is SORT OF his thing!!

The whole thing looks low energy, and they are trying to mask over that with outrageous scenes.

I was more of a "Last Boy Scout" fan than a "Lethal Weapon 2" one, so I have to appreciate Damon Wayans coming back to the buddy cop genre in that respect. Wouldn't bet any money that'll it'll be great but I'll definitely check it out.l

Damon Wayans is a legend, and the man playing Riggs seems likeable enough, so I would like to see this show succeed. That being said, I believe ICJ is right in that it just doesn't feel like a Lethal Weapon. This very well could turn out to be a decent show that just ends up falling flat on its face for not living up to fans' expectations of what a Lethal Weapon should be.

I wish Hollywood would learn that in order to rehash an older property, you NEED to hire the original cast members. The only major exception to this that comes to mind is James Bond. It is acceptable to have different people play Bond because nobody really knows who the character is because he is an agent so secretive and high up that he literally has a license to kill people at his discretion, and with zero oversight. Much drama was created over the Ghostbusters remake regarding an all female cast, I do not believe this criticism is justified because I believe an all male cast would have received the same amount of criticism if they were not the original actors. The 4th Indiana Jones was terrible not because of the plot, but because nobody cares about that beta Shia LaBeouf. Give me Harrison Ford, pan the camera around, focus in on his steely eyes, have him give the audience a sly smile, and boom you just sold the movie.

Also, the only show I really watch anymore is Homicide Hunter with Lt. Joe Kenda. The Grim Reaper is more forgiving on a person once he has your number than Lt. Kenda.

Oh please, is that the movie where they put Joe Pesci in it and he doesn't kill anybody, and in fact is a fool? Yep, I just looked it up on IMDB, and he's in it. I completely deny and repudiate your premise. Watch this movie, and all Leo Getz is a strong desire by the audience that they repeat what they did to him at the end of Casino.

Yeah, the problem was, he didn't kill enough people. Had he killed lots of people like he did in Casino and Goodfellas, Pesci's portrayal of Leo Getz would have been much more sympathetic for the audience.

Come to think of it, didn't Leo Getz seem to be more of another Jar-Jar Binks class third wheel that added absolutely nothing to the film and actually detracted from it?

Yeah he served no purpose other than being annoying.

Maybe it'll be better than this "Rush Hour" new TV show. Man, that shit sucks. I guess they figured this "Rush HouFrom the preview of the show it looks like they are really going to over do the "Riggs is CRAZY!" thing. I'll try to watch it.
