You can save anywhere; it saves the game when you use the menu to quit out.
This helps A LOT. I can try to find my dead guy and get my runes. I also found a shop keeper and I think I saved my game finally. Thanks!!

Not really - I don't think! I think Diablo 2 had you go through waves of easy enemies as you more or less navigated the same starting area. I could be wrong. Elden Ring truly does let you go anywhere. That tripped me up at first. I thought I HAD to fight the guy on horseback to start.

Basically...

1. Find an area with the bonfire thing that you can rest at. Rest at it.
2. Go kill some nearby guys. They will drop "runes". Once you'e accumulated a few hundred runes, go back to the rest stop. Here you can level up and also see how many runes til the next level.
3. Repeat this process here until gaining levels is slow.

If you are playing with a melee weapons you can't go wrong starting by leveling the STR stat.
Do you remember how to save?

I played tonight. Killed some zombies or corpses. Got 110 runes, looks like I need 800. Then a mushroom killed me.

Then back to the start, 0 runes. I really hate games that don't allow save anywhere, so I may be done with it, but I haven't the faintest idea of where or how to save and the game doesn't tell you.

Ha yeah the dragon will only attack if you get too close to its area. You will be able to kill those guys on horses after you gain a couple of levels grinding on the soldier looking dudes wandering around

I got it to start, I had to use studio drivers not "game ready" ones. I know that and From Software support does not.

I went away from the dude I can't kill on the horse. I killed three bats. I went further, seeing some guys doing a ritual.

Then a giant dragon flew out of the sky and attacked me. I hid behind a tree. It breathed fire at me, destroying myself and the tree.

Elden Ring won't start, after its July 4th update. I guess I am glad I figured it out Sunday night. Nobody else on the Internet seems to have this problem, and there is no crash log to the game that I can find. Nvidia drivers have been updated. Local file check on Steam passes.

(Why did these idiots update PROD on the day of a holiday and long weekend?)

Well, wait. "Grinding."

I thought the entire game was fighting these one on one battles with boss monsters. How do you "grind"?

Yup! Just pick a direction and move. If you run into extreme danger, pick a different direction lol

I’m probably gonna get the expansion once I have time to actually play it.

Oh and spend some time grinding in that area near the black war wagons since there is a checkpoint right there

I picked up Elden Ring again (but not the expansion, not yet). It is very good looking. I have no idea how to beat anyone.

This is an open world game? So I can run from this guy on the horse and go somewhere else?

Those who are not tarnished, or whom have never played a Dark Souls game that wondered about this game always ask me.. "Don't you die a lot in those games? That seems really frustrat..." Yes. Some of us have played Castlevania and are used to such things. In this next video, I demonstrate progress and death at the same time within 12 minutes. I'm having a hard time understanding any complaints.

TDarcos may remember but at one time I recall talking about my "faith" while I was curious about his over the phone one day. While I have 35 STR, I only allotted 2 stat points to INT and absolutely ZERO to Faith. Faith grants you a bigger bar to use your "ashes" attacks and certain other moves that depend on a Faith meter I've so far ignored.

Never played a Diablo. Ultima Online for life lol

Here is a new video. This is a fun game! Reminds me of Ultima sometimes honestly.

FINALLY! Someone notices! I swung right thru that poor bastard the 1st time. This consistently happens, but ONLY with this certain NPC. After seeing the kind of stupid shit that can just randomly pop up while you are developing a game, I'll let it slide. Not a game-breaker or anything.

Hahaha yeah this was before I had a shield so the whole parry action thing wasn't real feasible. I'm getting pretty decked out now though.. got this weird helmet off a boss I killed after 3 attempts. Got a lot more of the map explored now. 17 hours in over 2 days.. I need to take a break tomorrow drive out to the basement arcade at my friend Scott's house and spend some time with my GF.. and probably be right back at it after heh-heh.

I installed Mafia 2 on my PC and hooked up a PS3 controller so I get the best of both worlds. That is my fun thing of the week
