So, if you glance at one of my "farming" videos posted in the previous page you'll get the idea.
Basically...
1. Find an area with the bonfire thing that you can rest at. Rest at it.
2. Go kill some nearby guys. They will drop "runes". Once you'e accumulated a few hundred runes, go back to the rest stop. Here you can level up and also see how many runes til the next level.
3. Repeat this process here until gaining levels is slow.
If you are playing with a melee weapons you can't go wrong starting by leveling the STR stat.
Elden Ring won't start, after its July 4th update. I guess I am glad I figured it out Sunday night. Nobody else on the Internet seems to have this problem, and there is no crash log to the game that I can find. Nvidia drivers have been updated. Local file check on Steam passes.
(Why did these idiots update PROD on the day of a holiday and long weekend?)
Ha yeah the dragon will only attack if you get too close to its area. You will be able to kill those guys on horses after you gain a couple of levels grinding on the soldier looking dudes wandering around

Do you remember how to save?
I played tonight. Killed some zombies or corpses. Got 110 runes, looks like I need 800. Then a mushroom killed me.
Then back to the start, 0 runes. I really hate games that don't allow save anywhere, so I may be done with it, but I haven't the faintest idea of where or how to save and the game doesn't tell you.

If you die, you must go back to where you died and retrieve your runes. Otherwise they are gone.
You can save anywhere; it saves the game when you use the menu to quit out.

That sounds exactly how to play Diablo 2, are they related?
Not really - I don't think! I think Diablo 2 had you go through waves of easy enemies as you more or less navigated the same starting area. I could be wrong. Elden Ring truly does let you go anywhere. That tripped me up at first. I thought I HAD to fight the guy on horseback to start.
