I had many issues with Tap to Pay on my old Galaxy S10. It "usually" worked but got flaky at time.

Then there was the time that I went to pay with it, and an ad popped up for some Samsung financial product. I had to interrupt my transaction and read this full-page ad to make sure that I didnt accept, or decline, something by mistake. Literally, WHILE I was trying to pay.

That was 50% of the reason I ditched my Galaxy S10 and moved to iPhone.

Strangely, I have not had any tap to pay issues since the change 3 years ago.

I will set it up, and I would like to note that right now I try to pay for things in this order, usually:

1) Tap. I sit there like an idiot and tap it.
2) Chip. Insert it!
3) Slide.

So I will be adding a fourth method. It's okay. I am not complaining. In fact, the bar is low because of the nonsense I go through currently. If this one just works, then terrific!

But with passcodes and the likelihood of a thief just wanting to factory reset my phone and sell it for meth, it's probably something that I would benefit in having.
(Just seeing this thread)

Tap to pay is magnitudes safer than using a physical card. JUST DO IT.

(And then you wont scar your poor nephew when you forget your wallet!)

Let's instead live in a world where everyone is smart enough to recognize the Lies and corporate deception and adjust their wallets accordingly.

Somebody needs to punch these people in the goddamn mouth. They wouldn't be saying these things if we lived in a society where you could be struck for your lies.

That was good. It defines exactly why I avoid Apple products.

A few years ago my boy switched phone carriers and jumped on the iPhone wagon. Now he upgrades his phone every year and has lots to complain about. Admittedly he's a gadget head* but it fills a small hole in his happiness soul. It makes him happy and that's what matters most.

*he has six vacuum cleaners, the latest one has lasers in it.

Apple lost me 35 years ago
I was still enjoying Odell Lake, Number Munchers, Oregon Trail, and Jenny's Journey at my school at the time! One of the only things I looked forward to going to school for really. I loved those old Apple II computers at the time and getting to sit a station with color monitor was a treat.
I mean they were fine if the taxpayers were paying to keep em running. School IIe's are ok in my book.
Hell yeah. At the time they were asking us to bring our parents grocery store receipts that were colored green so that we could "upgrade" to add a few Apple GS workstations that were 90% used by the teachers lol. Fuckin Apple.

I liked using Apple Pay for a while before it just mysteriously stopped fucking working. Now every time I go to use it I get some dumb message like "see card for instructions". I swipe the SAME damn credit card that is associated with the Apple Pay app and it instantly works. I don't care enough to go looking at Apple forums and such to figure out why. Fuck off Apple Pay!
This is good info about payments. ApplePay is letting you down!

Honestly I had a phone stolen while open by a meth head at Walmart 2 years ago and there was no immediate burn to my accounts. I have for years been having occasional fraud charges which I actually think have more to do with breaches but could have been skimming. It's a valid concern you're right.
