Q: are you able to implement your own interface when selecting the 60+ games? Is the interface built into the chips?
Not through the 60 in 1s, you pretty much have inputs for the standard JAMMA inputs and that is it.
The front end on the ArPiCade DOES allow that, though. That will help if the button for what it thinks it should use for "fire" on Mr. Do! is wrong or whatever. I imagine I'll tweak that. I am going to run out and see if I can figure out what front end ArPiCade uses.
All the versions of MAME I tried can use different ways to select and map buttons and stuff, do yours support stuff like that?
In fact, almost everything BUT the 60 in 1s support that, haha. I guess the thing I dislike about the UI for the 60 in 1s is that you get into this weird spot trying to start a game. If it's in demo mode, you have to just "know" to hit a button to get back to the main window where you select a game. Then I think you have to hit 1P again to select a game. I think.
Then it is standard, I guess. You have to select a game with 1P and start it with either 1P or 2P..... it just isn't clear in freeplay mode. Or non-freeplay mode.
I think with the ArPiCade, it will show a list of favorites and you start it with "Fire" and then get immediately taken to the screen where you can hit 1P or 2P to start. I think. Boy, will my face me red if I had this wrong the whole time. The ArPiCade's UI allowing for a keyboard makes things easier, though my wife did tease me about the keyboard hanging out of it for the machine it's on now.
Ok, I have the power cable and some fork connectors coming for this. Wednesday!
