Regular (87 octane) is 3.70 a gallon at the gas station near us. The gas station that sells gas there sells it at a price that is 80 cents, roughly, more than anywhere else... You have to laugh at the greed and selfishness.
Then don't buy gas there. Problem solved. If enough people don't stop there, he will either lower prices or go out of business. How is it 'selfishness' if he sells something but you don't like the price? It's not like someone charging $10 a gallon for water when there's a water shortage. You have alternatives. He is selling a commodity product that there are probably 10 other places within a couple miles from his station selling the same thing. It's not like he charges you more (or won't sell to you) because you're white.
I am reminded of a guy in a movie who owns a used car dealership and is a very sharp operator, doesn't give refunds and if someone brings a car back because they can't afford the payments, and wants them to take the car back, refuses. He explains it like this. "Fuck him. He doesn't owe the money to me, he owes it to the finance company, and he should take it up with them. He's supposed to know what he can afford when he comes in.
"Understand this, when it cones to buying a car,
the customer has all the power in the transaction. The customer decides to buy a car. The customer decides to go to a specific car dealer. The customer decides what kind of car they want. The customer decides how much he can afford. He decides if he wants to finance it, and if so, for how long, whether he negotiates with us or has his own bank doing the financing. The customer decides whether or not to sign the paperwork. And, more than anything else, at any time before signing,
[he can get up, and walk out. I have no control over any of these."

And if he can find out who did it, prosecute and sue them for damages. Not liking someone's prices is not a valid reason to resort to violence.

Exactly. Problem solved.

So go to them to get it. I've probably bought gas at a hundred different stations in the roughly 15 years I've owned or rented a car, and I've never encountered a gas station that didn't sell 91 octane (premium) as well as 87 (regular).

The President has zero authority to do anything to set gasoline or diesel prices. Oil companies, refiners, and the stations themselves set the prices based on their costs and what people are willing to pay. There may be some stabilizing effect or slight reduction by selling oil in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, but at best that either delays or reduces the upward pressure during a shortage or crisis. Since the reserve only has enough oil for about 45 days, it's not much help, long term.
