If Byram doesn't want to be here, and he has market value (anywhere from 4-7 teams are pursuing him right now).. then fuck him. Move him. Get good pieces in return. I dont want guys who dont want to be here.

Adams has not overspent on any mediocre players in free agency today. I'm OK with that. It was a weak class. We need to build thru trades. Byram provides those pieces. LETS GET IT DONE.

haha. True.

I am seeing a lot of comments along the lines of "Byram is only good when paired with Dahlin." GOOD. Pair HIM WITH DAHLIN then. Christ. We never come anywhere close to the cap and we just non-tendered Bernard-Docker. Give Byram a little extra dough to make him happy for the next two years in Buffalo. He's got the rest of his life if it doesn't work out and he can play with a Norris candidate for two years. God.

Taking two defenseman #1 means that the money was going to go to weird places. I wish we had a McDavid and Matthews type with the #1 overalls, but we got d-men. Live with it. If Adams trades Byram without smoking some team - meaning at LEAST a top six forward, if not top line - then I'll physically be sick over the side of the hill I live on, and film it, and tag Kevyn so he gets to see it. SEE IT KEVYN. Just put out a dominant pair of defenseman if they are that good together, christ, what would that look like, what would that be like to experience. "Ohhhh but you can put a D getting paid less to work with Dahlin and and and" CHRIST just let the kid cook if he can cook.

That is all. I am sure I will hate all of today's moves. Fuck the Knights for their tampering and then their bitch move to get around the tampering. They should lose a pick anyway for Marner. (I would have loved to have been 28 and working in Las Vegas, no hate)

Roger McQueen goes the very next pick to Anaheim. Buffalo may regret not taking him.

Well, we got (theoretically) the 2nd best defenseman in the draft. A 6'6" two way defenseman who has never trained with a skating or skills coach. He's all hockey skill. He better fucking pay off.

I will amend this to say that Lightning McQueen's younger brother, Roger, would also be an acceptable pick.

4 more until Buffalo picks. We SHOULD either Martone or McQueen. They'd probably view Aitcheson as a stretch, but he's my pick.

BTW The Sabres need to trade up to pick Porter Martone or Kashawn Aitcheson. Any other pick in this draft will be a letdown.

The Sabres top 3 left-handed defensemen: Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Bowen Byram.
The Sabres top 3 right-handed defensemen (before the trade): Jacob Bernard-Docker, Connor Clifton. (NOTE: I did not get to #3).

They also have LHD Mattias Samuelsson and Jacob Bryson.

5 lefties and 2 righties.

I'm sure there are NHL analytics people who will tell you that you need 1 RHD and 1 LHD on every D-pairing. If you have someone playing on their off-hand, they lose efficiency. Like playing a righty at 1B.

While I hated to lose Peterka... scoring goals was not Buffalo's problem. They were 8th in the league in Goals For. They need to keep the puck out of their net. Kesselring is a 6'5" defenseman who can play physically, and has a rocket of a shot who can probably jump onto the top pairing.

I'm cautiously optimistic that this trade may well work out for Buffalo. If so, I credit Jarmo Kekalainen. If not, I blame Kevyn Adams.

Tonight, my son went to the game with his girlfriend. They watched JJ Peterka score the GWG in the 4th round of the shootout.

I think JJ and the Sabres should offer us season tickets.
JJ got traded for a "right handed" defenseman and Shane Doan's kid.

I do not understand why the handedness of a defenseman matters. I never heard that shit in the 90s when I was following hockey. NEVER.

Poor Wayne. What did he do to anyone? (Other than start cozying up to the conservative Canadian party??)

OVI BREAKS WAYNE'S RECORD!

892 for Ovi. 2 to tie Wayne, 3 to own the record.

39 goals at age 39. Dude is amazing.

Ovi 5 away from the record.

I am sad that Philly fired Torts. A kid from Fairport was drafted by the Flyers last year, and he's playing with their AHL team this year. He's a 6'4(ish) big body defenseman, who leads the team in +/- (last I knew), and is providing more offense than expected. TOTALLY a Torts kind of player. I'm sad he'll never get to play for him.

I would love Torts in Buffalo. Stop treating these players like snowflakes. It worked in Rochester back in 1996.

John Tortorella fired in Philadelphia.

Lindy to President of Hockey Operations. Adams runs the draft. Tortorella to coach. I am sure there are better ideas. But this would be better than what we have now.

I hate when the Caps are on the West Coast. It's 1am and I'm still up watching hockey. I need to go to bed.

No, its terrible.

Josh Norris is smaller, scores less, is more injury prone, is less physical, and makes more money.

Other than change for the sake of change, I dont understand this trade at all.

And I'm not even a big Dylan Cozens fan.
