I'm still "playing" it but 99% of the millennials where I work have already quit playing. Its not so much a game as it's more like that fad from our childhood, tomagotchi, where you have to keep giving the game attention for mundane tasks. I can't really call it a game because not a single thing in it requires any skill whatsoever but success depends on constancy, always being able to load up the game to collect something. It doesn't help that the developer has been horrible at delivering features that were promised (a tracking function, trading, peer to peer gym fights) and has been implementing fresh bugs in every update. They have been getting some people back with their holiday related "events" which basically consist of them turning up the levers on one game resource or another but seems like usage is way down.
Overall I'd say it's a lost opportunity for them because they could have leveraged the brand and uniqueness with something truly engaging but didn't put in the work or forethought.
