There was a big fear of the supposed viciousness of pit bulls that there were knee-jerk reactions to ban them. Over time, it was discovered the hype was overblown and pit bulls apparently are not aggressive unless mistreated.

I'm not afraid, any more."

I like pit bull, but my first dog (I was 10) was apparently inbred or something. Mean as hell to anyone but dudes basically. In the span of 2 years..
- Had to have a barricade (coffee table) put in the kitchen threshold to keep him from attacking anything and anyone that came to the door.
- Had to cover said barricade with hot peppers to keep him from eating it.
- He escaped and attacked the neighborhood friendly dog.
- Charged and hit me so hard I did a flip in the air outside. Landed with the wind knocked out of me.
- Charged my sister on a rather high deck in the snow and nearly knocked her off
- Bit my mom in the leg bad for scolding his ass for tearing up the flowerbeds.
- Had to be put to sleep for some sort of growth in his throat (so I was told. Never asked it was true later on)
Other pitbulls I have been around are totally not like that. They will growl and act weird if they smell fear (nervous sweat) though.
Yeah but two years, that could have all happened to any dog.
