Personally, I recommend using Inkscape to do drawings. The advantage is everything is an object, so you can move things around and reuse them, as I have done for my drawings. And if you don't want people to reuse your elements you can convert it to a flat .PNG image. Drawing is hard enough even with reusable items, having to paint things from scratch is a lot of work. We aren't all Bob Ross, capable of doing amazing work in half an hour..
