If it's other than these two, you're just doing a bit.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

He was the lead in the Love Boat.
I don't remember who the lead was in the Mary Tyler Moore Show, but I have a strong memory that it was not him.

If you associate him more with the Love Boat, that means you watched more Love Boat than MTM, which means there are fundamental issues that need to be addressed.

I've never seen an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Who was in it? Looks like MTM, Betty White, Ed Asner?pinback wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 3:55 pm If you associate him more with the Love Boat, that means you watched more Love Boat than MTM, which means there are fundamental issues that need to be addressed.
How much farther do I have to scroll before I get to Captain Stubing?

Maybe his rank on MTMS was higher than Captain? Was he a naval general or air president in that show?
...
I looked it up. He was a newsman. Which on the ship is not above Captain. Or in a newsroom.
I dunno man.

Gavin McLeod was a tertiary character on McHale's Navy.
The Love Boat was based on the nonfiction book The Love Boats by Geraldine Saunders, who was the first female cruise director ever hired by a cruise line. In fact, when she was interviewed she was asked if she had ever worked as ca cruise director before. She lied and said she had. They figured if she had the guts to lie to their faces she couold probably do the job. Therefore, technically Julie was the primary character on the show. The star of the show was the ship itself.
Also, the name of the show is a misnomer. General maritime practice is any large passenger or cargo vessel is a "ship." Smaller vessels are "boats." A submarine, destroyer or fishing trawler is a "boat." An aircraft carrier, cruise liner, Panamax cargo carrier or ocean liner are all "ships."
But "The Love Ship" probably doesn't sound as poetic.

Now he's not even trying to hide the fact that he's not a script.
