What's wrong with torrents in 2022?
Anyone else having trouble with The Pirate Bay (and rarbg)? Tried getting Rick and Morty S06e01: rarbg has a shitload of torrents that never open. TPB has a shitload of torrents with zero seeders. I get maybe with Maverick money they could block that but Rick and Morty? Can someone get me an invite to a private site?

Depends on what you want I guess. I used a Pirate Bay mirror to pull the game “Domina” after realizing I couldn’t get it through Steam.. because the creator was “cancelled” lol. There were like 20 seeders.

I never torrented anything. Wait, I torrented one thing in 2010. Okay, one thing. I'm not on trial here.

Re: What's wrong with torrents in 2022?
You might also want to use either a no-logs VPN or an off-site proxy server, possibly going through one to use a no-log VPN. When you torrent, your IP is advertised as a re-seeding source for whatever you've downloaded. This is what's brilliant about the BitTorrent protocol, every recipient acts as a potential host re-seeder, which means, (unless you used "leech" or download-only mode) instead of thousands of people hitting one site for the item to download, these hundreds of users can all each return a piece of the download to each other, making popular items easier to download, as more users have a copy to which some traffic can be diverted.
And if you are going to do this, use Torrent links to download movies and TV, make sure any service you're using where your machine is a re-seeder, is paid for by a prepaid debit card or other payment method that doesn't have your name, address, or e-mail on it, for the reason I explain below. If you're only downloading and not re-seeding (providing an IP address for someone to download from) you're mostly in the clear.
Now, just receiving downloads is not going to get you in trouble, as it is far too much effort to go after mere downloaders. What ISPs and copyright holders go after are the users who are acting as hosts for others to download from (re-seeders). If an ISP gets reports from others or detects illicit re-seeding with your IP address, it is going to intercept your web traffic to insert a warning in your browser that your IP address was detected as performing unauthorized re-seeding of copyrighted works, (e.g. re-seeding an Ubuntu distro you're Torrenting is not going to get you in trouble, that is an authorized seeding. What gets you into trouble is re-seeding movies and TV shows.) Quit then, and nothing further happens. Get a few more of these, and they terminate your account. Generally, after six months they forget about you, and you can be more careful in the future.
But it's much worse if a copyright holder is monitoring torrent traffic; it means they've hired someone to capture IP address of re-seeders further uploading to others (not downloaders). Then they'll get a subpoena from the court demanding the ISP disclose the name and address of the subscriber who had at a specific time, that IP address assigned to them. Given this information, you'll get a letter demanding several thousand dollars on threat of being sued for much larger sums.
But, what some copyright holders have done is much more interesting: instead of instituting lawsuits against customers, they're doing the equivalent of "cache poisoning" in which they introduce their own seeds of their movies and TV shows that are corrupted items, or have very flaky Internet connections, or just plain don't work. It's the Torrent equivalent of Rick-Rolling. This could be why you're having trouble.

I have ExpressVPN so I pay my way, thx tDarcos.
You're 100% right, I think that's what's going on with public torrenting.

Re: What's wrong with torrents in 2022?
That's exactly what I'm willing to do at this point. I could let my laptop seed all the time or I could set my 1TB living room computer to do the same. I just need to find where all the content is being held.

You can use the search function of qBittorrent and sort by seeders. Works for me.

Why do you people always have to come up with some lame rationalization? Hey Moral Oral, what about all the shit that gets bundled in that I don't watch? How come it only works in their favor? Hey Jonsey, am I wrong in assuming that one of the original purposes of JoltCountry BBS was to share WAREZ? (like every other BBS in existence at the time)pinback wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 10:25 am He can't just say it. Everything's gotta be rationalized. The cry of the perennial loser.
