IMPORTANT - Blue

Post by Casual Observer »

Ok, still lurking, but this is important. Blue reached out commenting on a post of mine on Linkedin and we started chatting. I feel so so sorry for all the pain this poor sweet woman has endured her whole life, you all know the story but I'll expand. I met her (and Noel) through Adam in the early JC video game party days (96ish). Blue's whole life has been pain, including lifelong health problems, mental health, Adam killing her daughter, her next husband abusing her and throwing her out. She had potential, when she worked for me she was creative, hard working, and afterward she went to UofR and graduated with an Advanced Mathmatics degree (high test scores). Had everything else not piled on I'm sure she could have been really something. Now she's living in a Nursing Home for the rest of her life which may not be very long.

JC'ers have some responsibility to this woman in what she's sure is the last 2 - 4 years of her life.

Why? We all knew that Adam was an absolute FREAK when we were hanging out with him and none of us did anything to help anyone. Selfishly I hired Adam because he was whip smart and used him for drug seeking at the time. I did try to help by hiring Rachel but the gig didn't work out for any of us and I got distracted with my life. I saw Rachel a few times before I left Rochester but didn't do my job of keeping up.

She needs stuff and is desparately lonely now that almost everyone in her life has abandoned her (me too).

I suggested to her I could put up a GoFundMe but I think that embarassed her. So I'm begging for a JCFundMe of sorts.

I'm sending her some medical bags from Amazon and can do more next week but if anyone here remembers her and cares at all please help her in any way you can.

Vark, she needs some micro USB cables, you must have a couple hundred sitting around. Any chance of shoving a couple into an envelope to her or hell drop em off next time you're near Culver rd? You're closest so probably would get there before Amazon can do it.

Grocery money. She lives on $200/month for medicine AND groceries (anything beyond group home mess)

I'm sending her a "Sorry" card this week and a happy birthday for Noel, I'm ashamed I turned my back on her like this. Any of you able to send cards would go so far to letting her know people do care. (January 3rd was Noel's birthday 🎂. She would have been 22., anyone know Rachel's birthday)

I can get her what she needs but here's a chance to do something good in 2023.

Here's her address, hope its not doxing her with the massive web search reach here:

venmo is mamablueroc

She said of course she would post here.

I was about to buy her some catheter bags and a usb cord on amazon but I checked my card and found 2 fraudulent walmart.com charges, goddamn have to get a new card. I can finish her order next week when I get my replacement but if someone could find a way to get her a USB cord quick I think that's her most urgent need.

We want to contribute and help, it's just that 24 hours ago we were all metaphorically living in a discarded sleeve of Oreos, and now we have one of our own to help who is in peril. We don't rally behind causes as quickly as we used to, but we DO do the right thing.

Can you be precise with the exact kind of cord she needs? THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT USB NOT YOU!! They made 50 different kinds.

Blue is having trouble logging in with her current email address: Raechel.coffey@yahoo.com

Any chance you can PM me her actual credentials when you get a chance?

She did not have an account under that email address, so I just made her one.

Apparently there is a five character limit, so I made her username be "Blue-" without the quotes, but with the hyphen.

She will get an email shortly to login.

There should be a "Forgot" or "Reset" password link on the BBS if she wants to do that to set her own password. I assume it works, but let me know if not?

Actually, they make four different kinds. One is generally only used by printers/scanners. For all the others, check out this item: Multiplug USB cable.

My understanding these days, in companies without a self-service password reset, the #1 activity of tech support agents is resetting people's passwords. I'm surprised - but given the other issues, like how search is broken, I shouldn't be - that this software lacks that feature.

You're saying they made four and only four different kinds of USB plugs?

Is that the number you're going with?

Final answer, please. I was using sarcastic exaggeration when I said 50 and I assume, deep down you knew that. But four. FOUR????? If you're going to use the word "actually" on this forum, there can be no room for error or emotion.

So.

Four?????????

It doesn't, I don't think. I mean, you reset the one for Paul Robinson recently, right?

Final answer, please.
If we count all permutations, Final Answer is 14: six for USB 2.0, four for USB 3.0, and four for USB 3.1.

However, there are only three that most people use, plus USB-B (printer connection, often not needed as most printers can print documents sent to it over Wi-Fi).

Now I wasn't including USB-A as that doesn't connect to a mobile device, that connects either to a charge block or a host device like a computer.

The ones I was thinking of were Mini-A (older cameras); Micro-A (often tablets; and Mini-B (cell phones). I think they sell weird ones that cover everything.
