I was playing a game (Candle Craft) and felt it was a "meh" implementation of the game genre I explain in more detail in the message. When asked how I'd rate.it, I assigned it one star (out of five.) When asked to explain, I agreed, and it opened a Gmail window. This is what I sent:

Tell us what you didn't like : Your game is a "carving game" similar to all the other games of this genre. "Accept a commission to create a carving. Pick blank. Use lathe to spin initial blank, move knives and other tools over blank to carve desired object. Present finished blank to customer and collect commission fee. Lather rinse repeat. Use commission fees from customers to upgrade tools or other game features." Am I missing much?
Following the usual pattern, the game has the user run a knife over an external pattern superimposed above the spinning blank, remove all of the blank that isn't the target. As some famous artist allegedly said: how do you turn a block of marble into a beautiful statue? Remove all the marble that isn't the, statue until all that isn't is removed, amd you're done.
Anyway, your gimmick on this game is tostat use a candle instead of a cylinder (or square) of wood as the blank. This is the reverse of some other carving games, where the user carves the wood blank then once finished, can paint it.. There is another game similar to yours, the user can choose a square or round pencil and its external color. I did say similar since your game does a dipped candle it must be cylindrical.
I mean, it's okay, but is limited: others start with more chisels, and a sponge (or is it round sandpaper?) against the form for finishing instead of a blowtorch.
I just don"r see anything g special that makes your game stand out from the other carving game clones.
Thank you for the time spent reading this missive.

There are other things, such as when it schedules commercials (often interrupting the middle of a carving operation when it's a critical pointq), commetcisls with loud music that can' t be silenced. I don't object to commervials; they're entitled to monetize their game. I object to annoying loud ones that I can't silence.

You thought it was "okay" and still gave it 1 out of 5 stars?
You are the problem here.

There's these buttons on the device that increase/decrease the sound. I know all about them.

If someone sent me negative feedback about something I had created and then misspelled their own email address at the end, that would affect how much weight I gave it.

No, you are the problem here.
Lots of other games have a "silence ad" kill box. If I have to turn off the sound because th ad is too loud, then I have to turn it up to catch sound cues, it makes your program look unprofessional. A game is judged not only on its technical competence but others of the same genre, does it do core things right? etc.AArdvark wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 3:53 am Re: commercials with loud music that can't be silenced

I suppose, but that's the rating I sent them. This was not posted to the Play Store. I have vision problems and mess up frequently, perhaps too odten. Also, I'm sending that from a mobile phone; sometimes I'm in a hurry because I have to handle something else Besides, the message is sent by GMail, it has my e-mail address.Flack wrote: Wed Mar 08, 2023 6:26 am If someone sent me negative feedback about something I had created and then misspelled their own email address at the end, that would affect how much weight I gave it.
