Where is the best place to buy a quality, low-cost, mattress with box spring set?
(Looking to order a set for the day we move.)
I prefer a 12-13 inch thickness.
Quilted is OK.
Memory foam is nice.

This would be a great thread for Tdarcos to answer. Which means he'll never see it.

Re: Buying a bed.
I have never purchased a bed, as either I did not use one (2004-2009) as I slept in an easy chair, or lived in a furnished room with a brand-new mattress (2009-2014), the landlord bought the replacement (2014), or I ended up living in a hospital or a nursing home (2019-now). Besides, I don't really know much, Maryland is one of those states that does not require mattress manufacturers to get a "Bedding & Upholstered Furniture" license, and does not issue them. Manufacturers typically have a primary state their license is issued by, usually their home state, or if that state doesn't, then pick some other state as home state. Then, they have to register their current license (and pay a fee, of course) in every state they sell mattresses in.
This is where the infamous "DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG UNDER PENALTY OF LAW" law label (mattress tag) comes from. It informs the consumer if it is a new (white label) or used (yellow label) mattress, when the law label was issued, what the stuffing consists of, whether it's new or used material, the name and upholstered furniture manufacturer license number and what states it is registered in.
One thing I strongly recommend is buying a mattress cover. It's essentially a plastic bag over the mattress. Keeps the mattress clean and odor-free. The first time someone has a vomit or diarrhea incident is when you'll be glad you have a cover that you can just clean up by wiping with soap, water, and either toilet paper (to throw in the toilet) or paper towels (to throw in the trash.)

He was our last hope. Now she will have to sleep on splintered wood and broken glass forever. You people had one job!
