Netware

Post by The REAL Real Man »

OK, so my plan was to send a photo of my new NetWare server with the post title "Help me, I think I'm falling."

But of course I don't have a new NetWare server because I can't make it work.

I thought it would be cool to have a box easily accessible by my DOS computer(s) through IPX. Why? Why the hell not? Would probably make great porn storage that no one will find when I die, if only I had porn worth storing/hiding.

I'm trying to set it up on an old AMD 'puter -- no idea what the chip is although the mobo has both IDE and SATA drive ports, so that should give you some idea.

I was able to install NW5 in a Virtualbox machine, but on the actual hardware I seem to be getting stuck at the Platform Support Driver, and maybe the driver for storage, can't really tell TBH. NW6.5 stalled on install too.

So, I dunno. Anyone know how to get around these issues? Anyone have a working 486/Pentium/P2 motherboard with ram they want to sell me cheap? Anyone want to punch me in the face and ask me WTF I'm doing?

I don't save porn. What's porn? I don't even know what that is.

When you say you are getting stuck at Platform Support Driver - can you give a little more detail about what it is doing and what you are seeing?

Why do you need to search for pr0n? I don't think it moves around very much.

Bing is the world's most perfect portal to porn. Ask and you will . . . Receive.

And not only that, it will point you to sites outside the US who are invulnerable to state porn restrictions. I know; I live in Virginia and PornHub has to block its pages. But Bing still finds lots of other non-us sites who don't have to comply.

Besides, a good reason to save porn offline is because if you found it interesting, you might not be able to find it again. I saw one where a guy was doing some rough sex with a girl (just hard, or fast, not hitting her), it culminates with them on the couch, and he proceeds to hold onto her and fuck her about as fast as is humanly possible, over about the 25-30 seconds before he came, he thrust into her about 4 times/second. I was amazed at his stamina. Just consider this, try making a circle with thumb and forefinger and proceed to try sliding the index finger into that, 4 times a second for 25 seconds. Then imagine that being a guy's dick, and that's someone in extremely good shape!

Not that I've had time to watch porn lately, I found other things to entertain me. As I have said, "Writing programs is the most fun you can have, either fully dressed, or with your clothes off."
"Baby, I was afraid before
I'm not afraid, any more."

Yeah... it tries for a default driver, then I get a purple error message. Can't remember the wording, but it seems to mean that the driver doesn't match the hardware, and it's asking for another driver. But searching for a platform support driver for netware is... well, the opposite of using Bing to find porn, apparently.

Unfortunately, my Netware knowledge ended with 3.x. I spent six months in 1998 and 1999 flying around the country, applying Y2K patches to Novell servers. By the time 4.x was released we were already migrating to NT.
