If you've never seen one before, sure, it's kinda neato.
The hysteria, I will not understand. They're CLOSING SCHOOLS here because of it.
I would not cancel a gas station trip for it.

Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

I've heard things. There's highway road signs telling us to expect severe delays and people telling me their pets will go crazy. I'm rolling my eyes. Maybe the sky will fall, turkey lurkey. Get a grip. It's a cool phenomenon certainly, but not earth shattering. It' s about 8 minutes long or something. I understand closing stores and even WEGMANS! because Danny wants people to see it because it's a once in a lifetime thing, but come ON!
I remember in 8th grade earth science, my teacher said a little knowledge was a dangerous thing. He said his mom wouldn't let him go outside during a partial eclipse because he'd go blind. The fuck!

I knew it was going to be cloudy as F. We should have had the eclipse yesterday!

Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with all the cash they told me to get out of the ATM... the water, snacks and blankets that they told me to put in m car... etc. You'd swear it was going to be a fucking zombie apocalypse.

The wife and I did a mini-vacation and drove next door to Arkansas for the weekend. We were "in the totality zone" (I'm glad I never have to type "totality" after this weekend again) and had an unobstructed view. I wasn't that excited about going, I wasn't that excited about being there, and then for about five minutes I was absolutely gobsmacked... and then it was over and we drove home. It was certainly something to see. The iPhone's tiny lens does not do it justice.

Haha damn right! I still get my mind blown when I go out to mountains in the middle of nowhere and gaze up at night. The coast is cool and all.. but due to light pollution etc it's nothing compared to what you can see further north of here. Straight up thought I was seeing smoke for nearly half an hour before I realized we were looking into the gases. Friends newer iPhone actually picked some of it up but tried to enhance more than my eyes were seeing.Flack wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 7:40 pm The wife and I did a mini-vacation and drove next door to Arkansas for the weekend. An eclipse ain't the best entertainment these days.. but it used to be the world cup of sorts in ancient times.
