Maybe we don't inline pictures like that, editing your post to just have the link.

Why do "Fallacy of Dawn" and "joltcountry" get zero hits if someone uses itch.io's search function even though the joltcountry itch.io page is like the second hit if someone does a "Fallacy of Dawn" google search? It this by design, Robb? Are you hiding from ITCH.IO? Are the games coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE?

Re: Great Moments in Computer Programming
It is definitely not by design. It would be great if itch.io's search system worked and served up my stuff if you directly typed their name in. I do not know! I would think "title" would just be the first thing they made their search work for.Roody_Yogurt wrote: Tue May 21, 2024 8:03 pm Why do "Fallacy of Dawn" and "joltcountry" get zero hits if someone uses itch.io's search function even though the joltcountry itch.io page is like the second hit if someone does a "Fallacy of Dawn" google search? Re: Great Moments in Computer Programming
I came downstairs, ready to use my computer after a long weekend and saw that Microsoft put up a giant, stupid, full screen ad for Windows 11. Sort of admonishing me for still being in 10.
I said I would never use 10, and then Flack posted some Powershell scripts and products that remove all of 10's bloatware.
Well, Microsoft's dumb "Recall" shit is simply never going to be in my life. And Microsoft has been telling me that my machine is somehow "not ready" for 11. Awesome. Great. Feature, not a problem. The AUDACITY of them thinking that I am going to play the upgrade game, when Windows 11 doesn't offer a single thing I want or need. It solves no problems. It offers no interesting features that aren't anti-consumer.
Great, I guess I don't get "support" or something? Absolutely laughable. I'll go to consoles, the Steam Deck and Linux before indulging this Windows 11 spyware nonsense. How greasy, desperate and pathetic to pop a screen up.

My laptop isn't 11 ready, thank the gods of computing. A fresh reinstall of 10 is kinda amazing though, man the problems and quirks I put if with

Yeah, mine fails because my motherboard doesn't have UEFI. I specifically bought that board making sure it did not have UEFI. Fuck UEFI and fuck Windows 11 lolCasual Observer wrote: Mon May 27, 2024 5:07 pm My laptop isn't 11 ready, thank the gods of computing. You can disable that by disabling secure boot in your BIOS. Or TPM. Both are a requirement for W11 and if not active, it stops prompting you to upgrade.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Mon May 27, 2024 4:52 pm I came downstairs, ready to use my computer after a long weekend and saw that Microsoft put up a giant, stupid, full screen ad for Windows 11. Re: Great Moments in Computer Programming
Thanks!
New great moment. I have absolutely no idea how to turn this piece of shit iPhone work gave me off. No idea how to power it off. I hate... I loathe Apple's "designers" so much. I've pressed every real button on the thing and then every button together. I tried to look up "Power" in the thing's search.
What an ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SHIT. Sure, I could watch a video and hope it isn't out of date (it will absolutely be out of date) and hope it's for this exact model of phone. Or they could put a goddamn power off button on the fucking things.
Who in the Christ would willingly subject themselves to this shit.

On my iPhone SE 2nd edition I just.. hold down the button for 2-3 seconds on the right side of the fone. I assume this model phone you got is different?Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Wed May 29, 2024 6:03 am Who in the Christ would willingly subject themselves to this shit.

I'd like to celebrate the 3 year anniversary of a singular (active) support ticket I have with Microsoft's Azure Business Division.
That is all.

Re: Great Moments in Computer Programming
My W10 computer "can't" run Windows 11 (of course it can, but Microsoft stupidly tells me it can't) but that can't be enough for these greedy pigs. Today I had a full screen ad for Windows 11 pop up on my machine. No way to close it but to be "reminded later."
Found this which may or may not stop this ad from appearing again.

Wish they had some dignity.block windows11 upgrade
Select Start.
Type gpedit.msc.
Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Update for Business.
Double-click on "Select the target Feature Update version".
Set the policy to Enabled.
Type Windows 10 in the first field, and 21H2 in the second field.
Select OK.

The bank my wife uses will hold the money you deposit via check for a few days UNLESS you pay the bank a couple of dollars. Then it is available instantly.

Re: Great Moments in Computer Programming
Most banks used to hold check deposits for 5 business days but the Fed said that was too long so they made them shorten the waiting time. Then the instances of check fraud skyrocketed.
