It did end up being a longterm game. This was the last game I purchased, except for the Wizard of Wor deal that I mentioned in the other thread.

When starting it the last few times it wasn't saving settings. I remembered tonight that it's just three AA batteries on the circuit board. I just got out of bed, changed them and we're good. I finally fixed something.

And saw that I had not shut the garage door. So I'm glad I did that and no deer or turkeys got into the garage.

I really enjoy Defender and about a year ago got into Stargate after getting a full board set for it. I’m by no means great at it though.

So, the monitor seems dim on Defender. I think that I will pay to have a cap kit done on it.

What model is it? As long as you don’t send the chassis to me via usps and it’s a WG model, I can most likely do this.

Oh, it's fine - there is a guy that can do it out here and I don't trust mailing anything at the moment. But I'll check for deets on it.

I ordered a new fluorescent light because the one hooked up was dying. I got six lights! A lifetime supply for $6. I feel like I should overclock the light or something.

You can get em at PetCo too! It is an aquarium light basically. I am still debating if I will bother replacing the fixture in my Neo-Geo MVS. Double Dragon and Bosconian both have working ballasts and new bulbs.

I got tired of switching the batteries out, so I put the jrok WMS board in it this evening, and I have it directly booting to Defender.

But it is reversable.

I meant to mention this. I recently bought a small... I don't know what to call it. They're fake AA batteries that have USB power coming off of one of the batteries, so you can convert a device that uses AA (or AAA) batteries into a USB-powered device.

They're generally called 'converters' or 'adapters' depending on function. I'd call that a 'battery to USB power converter.' I remember seeing a fake cassette tape that allowed you to put the cassette in, then plug the wire from the cassette into the headphone jack on an MP3 player or iPod and play its output on your car's stereo. It simulates the magnetic patterns of the output audio to the player's read head. That would be a 'headphone out to stereo adapter.' You can still buy them for under $8 at Walmart.com.

I once saw a fake 8 track cartridge that allowed you to play Edison cylinders!

In the late 1950s, Chrysler offered record players as options in some of their cars. My dad didn't have one, but he remembers someone who did. I'm surprises hipsters haven't brought this back yet.

Hey Jizaboz, here's an idea for your next phone app. Write a music player with the option to overlayed vinyl record crackles or cassette tape hum.

Back to Defender. I bought a used copy of "Defender" for the Playstation II.

The first 90 seconds of a real Defender game, you are blasting away at aliens and frantically trying to save the lives of humanoids, which fall to the ground if lifted. It is the most intense experience in gaming after all of these years.

The first 90 seconds of PS Defender, well, the game hasn't loaded yet. Once it does you get the TUTORIAL, which has you moving your ship - where the camera is always behind it - around some rings floating in space.

I can think of no more present example of the difference in video game eras. Is Defender for the PS2 good? I'll find out later.
