Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
Who picked 'other', and didn't explain? Come on, people, this is a matter of life and death!
I've always thought Ruth's Chris Steakhouse was strange. IYeah, yeah, I know, she bought a Chris' Steakhouse that was well known, but wanted her name on it. Since that is a successful restaurant chain it wasn't that silly after all.
Otherwise, "The French Laundry" seems impossible. Now if it was la lessive française that might work, however. Conjuring up ideas of Dirty plates, shitty food, and watered-down drinks, served by a waiter with a stereotypical snotty french attitude.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
There was a show called B.J. and the Bear, other than that I can't think of another TV show... Wait. There's Yogi Bear, but after that, I'm, scraping the bottom of the picnic basket for ideas.

There was a whole thread about it in the TV base, Paul.

Duh. Just duh.
I could 'weasel out' by pointing out that Bear is technically not a TV series, but instead is a Web Streaming series, but that's probably just pulling louse eggs (if you don't get it, the eggs of a louse are called nits, so...)

It's important to me that we all recognize how much Ruth is winning, so losing this thread.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
I mean, the two dumbest names are French Laundry and Ruth's Chris, and those are by a WIDE margin the two best restaurants on the list. So, you know. If your product is good you can name it whatever you want.
Applebee's is a snappy, cute name, and I wouldn't eat there if you paid, and then gave me an extra $300 at the end.
Also what is "T.J's Big Boy"? Where I grew up, it was always Bob's Big Boy, and where I live now (Cincinnati), it's Frisch's Big Boy.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
I guess if you have a big dumb statue out in front you can put your name in front.
I know a guy that worked a a local Big Boy, this was years ago. Him and his buddy got hammered one night and painted Big Boy in blackface.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
I apologize on Applebee's. I thought it was not possessive. Not possessive = stupid. Possessive = sure, fine.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
Big Boy is franchised; each region has a particular name of the regional franchisee. Back in the late '60s to early '70s the Big Boy restaurants in one of the places I lived was Azar's Big Boy. The current status is complicated; there is the franchisee Frisch having the right to franchise Frisch's Big Boy in some states and the main Big Boy International having the rest, with both companies co-owners of the Big Boy marks. "Bob's" was the original Big Boy chain.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
When I first met my girlfriend in Calumet City, she introduced me to "Pano's Big Boy". I noticed other Big Boy mascots in other places in the Chicago area around it as well. She liked the lamb meat gyros from there. I tried one and discovered after another attempt at a different place that I just don't like gyros. However, the next time I went back to Pano's Big Boy I got a traditional Chicago style beef hot dog and it was legit one of the best hot dogs I've ever had in my life.

Re: [POLL] DUMB RESTAURANT NAMES
All right we are doing TV show names now.
I don't care how many clearly sponsored articles talk about how it's a "return to form!" and how it is "saving the Marvel Comics cinematic universe", "Agatha All Along" is the dumbest name for a TV show I have ever heard.
MCU TV except for Daredevil is mostly dogshit anyway but still. DERP
