Re: Cyberball rules.
This man is lying. I recommended it to him, and he played it for five minutes and then hops on AIM tellin' me it's a steaming load of Donkey Kong Jr.'s green, projectile diarrhea.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:Cyberball is one of the best games I have ever played in my life.
Now he's on here trying to deceive and delude you people.
Another masterstroke by the Sysop From Doodooville.

True. At first, I did do this.pinback wrote:This man is lying. I recommended it to him, and he played it for five minutes and then hops on AIM tellin' me it's a steaming load of Donkey Kong Jr.'s green, projectile diarrhea.
Wait, RUGFUCK, you don't have the whole story. Now he's on here trying to deceive and delude you people. Another masterstroke by the Sysop From Doodooville.
1) I did initially play it for like five seconds. I thought it sucked.
2) I gave it another chance.
3) I played a game. I lost like 13-0. But! I had a great time.
4) I played another game. I won 24-13. Greatest game ever!
5) I played a third game last night. I lost 18-0. =(
It is an excellent game, because:
1) The pass rushing is better than any game, ever. You really get a feel for how it feels to be a DE in real life. Though this is robots.
2) There's no punting. So if you start to do bad, you're going to keep doing bad because the other team can take over on your own 20 yard line if you can't move the chains.
3) The fuckin' ball explodes if you don't get a first down. Taking out your dude, or maybe the computer's dude. Hahaha.
4) Like ever other MAME game, the fact that you are putting FREE quarters into the game is never lost on you. It just isn't. And the more they ask for a quarter (Cyberball needs a quarter-per-quarter, haw haw haw) the better the experience. This is why Gauntlet's popularity shot up in 1997.
I still don't have sound working for Cyberball, though. But it's terrific. I want to make a game like this.

How did you make so much money? I am lucky to get $32,000 and then when I do I have to upgrade my quarterback.pinback wrote:Let's have a Cyberball tournament! See who can make the most money during a game!
Here's my score from last night:
$999,999
Good luck!
Plus -- there's no "season" mode or anything, is there?
Plus -- is there a way to get a different team to play against? I play as the Hitmen, and I am always playing against the Chicago Killaz or whoever.

Well, you get points during the game for scoring and stuff, and then at the end, you get $10,000 (or so) for each point differential. So, by the end of the game, I had about $400,000 in the bank, and I won by 65 or something, and whatever the total of the two was, it was over a million.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:How did you make so much money?
One day in the arcade, I won a game by the final score of 103 to 0. That's when I stopped playing.
This is because you suck at the game. I never upgrade anybody.I am lucky to get $32,000 and then when I do I have to upgrade my quarterback.

You really are a jerk. I've played three or four games LIFETIME. And you're here giving me shit because I "suck" at the game.
You'd better HOPE I don't see this game on a Kalliera server. Because I would destroy you to the point where you would set your computer and yourself on fire so you'd have an excuse.
I'd make that (false) 103-0 score that <strike>never happened</strike> you claim you dropped on the hapless computer controlled team seem like dreamtime nappy nappy made-up goodfun days.

Since when was Cyberball not famous? It was a staple at most arcades when it was released. As well as the sequel. Versions were released for the NES, Lynx, and Genesis. I recall it being fairly popular whenever I saw it over at Slutt Putt.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:Ho, ho, ho GREEN GIANT.Worm wrote:thx for the link I'll check it out ...

Jr Pac-Man... well, it was not entirely common, I don't think. I mainly played the (very good) Atari 8bit translation, which I think was never officially released.
(Before any eyes roll, not every game on the Atari 8bits was very good. The "Dig Dug" adaptation was very disappointing.)
I think the problem was that it was fairly difficult, relative to previous Pac-Man games, so a quarter might not last you very long.
Oh, and Mr "tossing around Kaillera", last time I checked, Kaillera is incredibly out of date - like, MAME .67 or something like that - and you pretty much need a seperate collection of ROMs since so much has changed.
Unless "Fucking Rabbit" (the guy who used to do the Kaillera port) actually updated it.
I very well may still have a Kaillera daemon running on my server. I don't even remember.

Awful, isn't it? I'd still love an explanation as to why each ROM has changed fifty times between MAME 0 and MAME 71.Jethro Q. Anyway, doesn't apply to me as I have a mostly complete bunch of .61 MAME roms I can upload if need be. Gonna see if I can do it for www.joltcountry.com.
